Safety

! Do NOT perform maintenance or repairs on any machine that is supported by lift jacks or a hoist.
ALWAYS use jack stands or secure blocks to support the machine.
! Park & Chock machine in accordance with Mine Traffic Rules before carrying out any repairs.
! Attach your “PERSONAL DANGER TAG” & lock out the controls while machine is being
serviced.
! Wear appropriate PPE (protective clothing, safety glasses or other safety items) where necessary.
! Ensure deck, walkways & steps are free from foreign material such as oil and debris.
! Read & understand all warning plates on the machine before operating, lubricating or repairing the
machine.
! Relieve all pressure in air, fuel or cooling systems before any lines, fittings or related items are
connected or removed. CAUTION should be exercised when removing caps from hydraulic tanks,
radiators etc as pressure may cause a spray of hot fluid.
! Avoid burns, be alert for hot parts on machines which have been stopped and hot fluids in lines, tubes
and compartments.
! Refer to MACHINE SERVICE MANUAL for component weights, use correct lifting equipment.
! Be aware of component weights, use a hoist as required. Do NOT lift heavy weights, avoid back
injury or overbalancing.
! Check for “WORK INSTRUCTIONS” & Service Manual procedures / Safety Warnings and
messages before performing maintenance or repairs.

! Ensure filters are disposed of in the waste filter bin and oil is evacuated into the waste oil tanks.

o Check machine for rust and corrosion. Record areas that require attention 
o Check operation of Console Gauges and Switches 

o Check Safety Lock operation 
o Check operation of all Lights 
o Check operation of Travel alarm 
o Inspect condition of Bucket and G.E.T (report any cracks) if necessary replace worn teeth 
o Check welded structure crack 

o Drain sediment from Fuel Tank

o Remove fire extinguishers (2 off) from bracket, shake & check pressure. 
o Check fire suppression system mounts for correct tension 
o Check fire suppression system pressure and record. Recharge if required. Kpa 

o Check Tracks for missing bolts 


o Check Track tension, adjustment refer to O&M manual 
o Check Track Shoe bolts, Track frame and Axle connecting bolts. Tighten as required 
o Check condition of Idlers 
o Check Carrier rollers for missing mounting bolts 
o Check Condition of Track Rollers 
o Check L.H Final Drive Oil level and inspect magnetic plug for contamination .TAKE PHOTO 
o Check R.H Final Drive Oil level and inspect magnetic plug for contamination .TAKE PHOTO 
