National and International Celebrations and Their Impact on Language

Acquisition:

It is very clear that International celebrations have a great impact not only on
society but also on their virtues, morals, thus, their education. Now if we are
speaking about learning English language as a « foreign language » we might be
allowed to state that students will be very attached to foreign celebrations that
happen in the whole world, and especially if its origins comes back to an
English or an American culture. For instance, we generally find many people of
our own society celebrating parties that have completely nothing to do with our
traditions and you might find them even speaking in the party in English. This
can have a positive impact in one hand and a negative impact in the other hand.
If we stick only on learning and acquiring the language then we might take a
great benefit through these kinds of celebrations in where students of English
can learn more vocabulary, intonation, pronunciation …etc.

Besides, social celebrations, even if they do not belong to the English culture
or the English world, they might be transferred through social communications
to be more international where you find an Arab celebrating his/her tradition in
English environment with an international manner. For instance, let’s take
« Yennayer » as a social celebration that might be found in European countries
celebrated by Arabs and quabilians and even foreigners. Here, English will take
its place through translating words of food, dancing, history and so on in which
people of the party are celebrating it they exchange ideas and food as well as
traditions in their ways.

Thus, celebrations always have a great impact in exchanging ideas between

native and non-native English speaking countries as well as it helps a lot in
gathering peoples’ relations.

English language acquisition across the celebrations of many international holi-

days must be taken in to consideration while we want to speak about learning
English in a non-speaking English country. This latter is called ‘segmented
pathways of educational mobility’, which describes the multi‐dimensional and
complex levels of stratification within regional educational mobility flows that
reinforce existing class inequalities for many people. However,

seek to accrue alternative cultural resources across varied destinations to gain
the experiences and credentials necessary to advance in the their proper
countries.

Celebrating international holy-days took a great place in our societies the fact
that gives a great impact on students’ education, especially Students of English
language. For instance, celebrating International Women’s’ day gives them a
culture about how English towns and cities all over English culture is. It makes
them think in the English way as well as it drives them talk the same way the
party was celebrated. There are exhibitions, theatre shows, talks, discussions,
walking tours, films, workshops, fun runs and so much more. All the events are
designed to celebrate the role of women in society and to make us all take a step
back and think about the progress that has been made, but also about the
changes that still need to take place to ensure the world is a fair and equal place
for all its citizens. There are many other interaction celebrations as «  Word
children’s day » and «  Tree festival » and «International human rights day «
and so on that give a great hint into the English language learning world , the
fact that makes students of English have an energetic power to express
themselves in any issue that they choose to talk about and give their voice to it.
Besides, International celebrations offers students of English a great amount of

words, vocabulary, intonation, expressions that makes them enrich their English
the fact that they will be brave in adopting an issue to talk about in front of huge
number of audience. Though, our students are not enjoying such an English
environment as French still is within our proper environment , but we totally
find that these kind of international celebrations still have its« affect and effect »
on their developmental EFL learning process. Therefore, students who give
interests to issues such as international celebrations, they certainly would gain
more English culture and language from it.
