Recall one lesson that you have conducted.

Explain
a) how you make connections of the lesson to previous lessons, daily life
applications and other subjects?
b) what are the different types of representations that you used in the lesson?
c) how did mathematical communication happen during the lesson?
Present your answer in 300 - 450 words.

Connections of the lesson to previous lessons, daily life applications and

other subjects by flash back student memories. For example, topic coordinate in
form two. I will ask student some question about x-axis, y-axis, origin point and
how to read the coordinate which is to refresh their memories and make a
connection in order to introduces the topic. Teacher will example based on daily
life application and geography subject (coordinate use in topography graph) for
this topic. For instance, question about distance between A’s house and B’ house.

From this example question, student will use their previous lesson, and geography
to read the coordinate. So, in this activity, teacher make a connection to previous
lesson and the other field study.
Representation is usually to illustrate mathematical ideas using various type
of representations such as numerical forms, graph representation, verbal
representation and representation by symbols, equation, expression and algebraic
formulae. Representation type teacher usually use is numerical forms, graph
representation, verbal representation and representation by symbols and equation.
Usually, representation use to explain or simplify the long question to student.
Which is to take out the main ideas of the question. For example, algebraic
formulae topic. In learning standard, write a formula based on situation. Usually, to
explain the example, teacher use numerical, or symbols to simplify the question in
order to make student understand the process to write a formula.
Mathematical communication happens in lesson during use the
mathematical language to express mathematical ideas. For example, in topic
speed and acceleration. Student use negative symbols to represent deceleration
of object. Beside that, teacher use a line graph to express idea to describe the
difference of uniform and non-uniform speed. Mathematical communication
happens when student give a though and idea on their understanding on lesson.
For instance, how to find object position when given position of image and vector
translation. Student give an idea which is reverse the direction of x and y axis.
