1. For Water-jet A find the hypothenuse to see if the water will crash with the glass of the
cylinder. For Water-jet B find the height to see if the water will overcome the cylinder glass.
2. Now that they know wether the fountain will crash with the inside of the cylinder, or if
the other fountain will overcome the height of the cylinder, they have discovered a new
track for a new motion of the water-jet. They have given the diagram below. Find the
hypothenuse and all of the other measurements missing.
As a team we came up with several ideas, but one caught our attention the
most. We have both travelled to Las Vegas where amazing water shows are
displayed. We took our inspiration from one of the main shows, and changed
it to fit Pythagoras and math scenarios. We worked together all the time,
although we divided the work in half, both working on the 3D program as
well as math and the formulas. Our process took around two days where we
made zoom calls in order to figure the whole project out. Our project was
taken out of a real life example, we believe that our results and answers make
sense both mathematically and in a real life case. The problem includes real
measuring units (ft), we designed sketches to visualize the problem, and the
3D model to ensure both understanding of the audience and ourselves.
