As the world grows old and technology keeps on evolving, humans are aware that

they need the sense of security in their life. Creation of technology helps them in preventing
a lot of factors that could cost their property and life. The creations of camera have evolved
to a multipurpose version, and carry a useful helps to human beings such as protection
against crime and provides evidences. CCTV cameras can acts like additional eyes for
human especially for those who are very concern about their safety. Most of the users of
the CCTV cameras feel secured with the installation of the devices. It is a physical and
psychological effect that contributes to create a safe zone for the user. The good side on
having CCTV in premise is that the crime rating in the premise will be reduce as and the
video recorded can helps the authority in solving crimes.

Evidently, with the help of the CCTV, the crime rating of a certain place will be
reduced. ‘Eyes’ that always watching every movement at that place, even professionals
criminal will think twice to rob the place. CCTV cameras can record, track and store every
movement that happen at the very place give a sense of security to the owner of the
building. It creates a psychological effect that helps to relieve the worries of the owner and
he can track every movement that happen in that day. For examples, if an owner of a store
places the CCTV cameras in his or her premise, he or she can track the thing that happen
that day by only tracking back with the help of the video recorded by the CCTV cameras if
there are something ‘fishy’ going on in his or her store. The owner also can use the video
track as evidence to help the authority to solve the crime that happen in his or her premise
by simply handed in the video to the authority. A CCTV camera does help us to bring the
criminals to face justice with the right evidence. The victim will be defended and their right
can be claims towards the strong evidence; that is the video recording of the CCTV
cameras. A video recording is a strong evidence that can be hard for the criminals to fight
back in the court room.

However, this creation creates a lot of inquiry, mystery and misery as the Closed-
circuit TV camera (CCTV) can disrupt one’s privacy. Some people are against the over
installation of the CCTV cameras in public places. They find it very annoying and they feel
watched with every move that they do. The CCTV cameras are supposed to create feeling
of secure but with this; they said that it will create the uneasy feeling of being watch every
day. There are several reasons that can support the statement above and the reasons are
invading’s one privacy in public places, data leakage on the internet, concern for hackers,
and last but not lease, malfunction of the devices.

Crimes do happen in discreet places such as the back alley, barren roads and
parking places. In this context it is reasonable for the manufactures to install a CCTV
cameras to helps the polices or the persons involves for solving crimes but if it is install in a
public places like a library and a shopping mall, it can becomes a burden to most of the
people. In a shopping mall, some people love to shop alone. They want to taste some
freedom in shopping alone but if the malls are equipped with the CCTV cameras in each of
the corner of the wall in the shopping mall, they, the shoppers will feels unsecured. It will
become more and more serious if the customers are having social phobias such as anxiety,
social awkwardness and low self-esteem. For us, the normal people, it is nothing but for
them, it is a big problem. The have the difficulty to socialize and they tend to isolate
themselves from public. They don’t like to watch people and they also don’t like to be
watch. It makes them nervous. It also lowers the employee morale and hampers
productivity at times. Constant monitoring of every activity might put the workers ill at ease.
Just imagine, every little thing that the employee do will be watch by the higher rank
employee and with just an innocent mistake, they might be fired. The worries can lower the
self-esteem of the employee and make the quality of the work at the lowest level. The
overused of CCTV cameras can make them sweat a lot because they feels like they are
being watched. Some the data leakage can be used to attack a certain person with a
certain purpose. There are some people that are cruel enough to used video recording to
give a bad name towards the doers in the video. These happen a lot to politicians;
especially when it comes to public elections. Some of them are hired to use the CCTV
cameras to frame the victim in order to gain political powers. The misuses of the CCTV
cameras are surely unethical and are not acceptable in moral value.
 Data leakage is not an option to the owner of the CCTV cameras but if there were a
data leakage, it will cost the owner a lot of problems. Even the creators of the machines,
human being, are tends to do a lot of mistakes, so does the technologies. Some of the
flaws of technologies especially the CCTV cameras are the input language and the privacy
protection. Some of the governments’ important buildings are equipped with CCTV
cameras. Just imagine if the data that was recorded in the buildings are leaks and are being
spread out to the net, it will become a matter of national security. This is a serious matter
and might be the worst case scenario if there are terrorist surfing on the internet and found
a way to terrorise the monument. Things will get worst if a full scale of video about a
country that is develop and install with CCTV in each of the road and the video data is
leaked throughout the internet. It is sound a little bit Hollywood movie but if it happens,
there is no way to turn back because the terrorist know all the blueprints of the city. Another
good example is when someone’s private moment is leaked throughout the net. The victim
of the video will carry a lot of shame and the owner of the CCTV cameras might be facing a
law suit after that. It is not only privacy invasion but it will create a lot of heat because of the
data leakage. The shame the person carry is eternal although the video can be deleted
after some time.

Hacking is process where hackers try to steals information or data inside a computer
illegally. In order to be safe, the owners of the CCTV cameras are needed to know how to
handle and keep the video only to themselves. The system has to be protected as to
prevent hackers from hacking into the system as once they are inside, they can control it
free willingly while their comrades in crime do the crime while the hacker moves the camera
remotely to prevent them from being recorded. While the system has to be updated
regularly to prevent virus from invading it as just one virus would cause the entire camera
system to breakdown due to system failure. There are many cases that involve hackers
hacking the CCTV cameras just to rob some places with the help of internet. With one click,
the hackers can hack the server and instantly shutting down the CCTV cameras within a
minute. The cruel irony of the CCTV cameras is to prevent crime but in this case, it helping
the criminal in doing what they do best. Nothing is impossible for the hackers to hack very
simple devices like the CCTV cameras.

Humans are created by the Almighty in just a nice way. We are born with
imperfection. It is normal for us human to make mistake. In our own creation, the
technology tends to malfunction every time, so does the CCTV cameras. Most of the
malfunction is due to human errors in constructing the devices, setting the place and the
device itself. Some of the CCTV cameras are sensitive to the extreme temperature and
they are not builds to be durable. The over sensitive lens of the cameras tend to grow
fungus and it will affect the quality of the video. Some of the CCTV cameras can blow up
because of short circuit. The electric input for the cameras are lower rather than the electric
flow in the devices. Sometimes, it is due to electric short circuit happen in the premise. Most
the premise is not built with back-up power and if this situation occurs, it will damage the
cameras. In most cases, the CCTV cameras itself are not durable. It is created with bad
materials especially with the untrusted brand. Some manufactures tend to create the
devices solely on the base of money; they did not care about the quality of the devise.
Different IP cameras may encode video differently or use a different programming interface.
This means a particular camera model should be deployed only with compatible IP video
recording solutions. Not all CCTV camera models can be installed in every place. The user
must know everything about the devices before installing them at the right place.

As a conclusion, these creations of additional eyes are providing more dangerous

threat rather than the safety of the owner. As a result of this long argument, it is good only
in giving psychological effects towards criminal and giving evidence after the crime has
been done. It will brings a lot of bad psychological effects towards the public such as
privacy invasion, shame and somehow hatred towards each other. The device itself is not
perfect in way that it can be hack and the data can be easily stolen from the owner. Rather
than focusing on catching the criminal after the crime has happen, the government should
invent some method that can reduce and demolish all the act of treason so that the country
can live in peace, and the public are becoming paranoid of the CDCTV cameras. A step
such as motivational campaign for the public to helps other in preventing crime are a good
way of expelling the bad side of human nature. The CCTV cameras can bring a little good
but somehow the creation of the camera is an cruel irony because not only it can be handful
to the criminals, it is also can become a burden as it need a lot of money for the
maintenances.
