About this
Project
The problem of microplastic in the ocean has been a
big problem over these few years.
So, I want to spread the awareness of pollution in
over polluted areas. How I would make this happen
is by making advertisements such as fliers and
posting them on polluted areas. I would advertise
beach cleanups that people can join.

Purpose
Not everyone has access to purified water.
Although the tap water in Hawaii has been
purified by volcanic rocks, they contain tiny
microscopic particles that impact your long-term
health. Microplastics can originate from a variety
of sources, such as ingredients in cigarette
filters, cleaning or personal care products, and
dust from car and truck tires. All of these comes
from trash created by humans who chooses to
litter. But due to Oahu’s population being close
to a million people, and its popularity with over a
million visitors per year, pollution is on the rise
and slowly destroying many natural habitats that
we enjoy about this beautiful island. Pressures
from increasing human and animal population
and urban expansion both directly on the
islands as well as overseas.
Reason
Regardless of the social class, you are
in, the type of water you can drink
should not change. Just because, you
are poor, it should not mean that you
cannot drink safe, purified water. Just
because, you are poor, it shouldn't
mean you have to drink unpurified
water. Many wealthy people tend to use
water purifiers so that they can drink
clean water. However, people tend to
ignore those who are poor and cannot
afford to buy a purifier. I feel that it is
unfair for the people who cannot afford
clean water just because their social
status is bad. Everyone should be equal
when it comes to the risk of getting
their health damaged when it is
everyone's fault for littering and not
recycling their trash.

Evaluation
The qualitative evaluation for my project is based on
whether or not I am able to inform people about the
dangers of microplastics or not. The goal of this
project is to raise awareness of pollution in
overpopulated areas.

Dissemination
For this project, I plan to use social media such as
Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram to get people's
attention. I also plan to post flyers around the school
and other public areas. I will also make a website with
other public organizations on it so that people can join
and participate in cleanups. But I will mostly work on
Social Media since many people use social media on a
daily basis.
