1. INTRODUCTION

The four Laning of existing two lane from Talwandi Bhai to Ferozpur NH-05 (Old NH-95) from KM.
170.380 to KM. 194.040 in the state of Punjab has been awarded to M/s Ceigall India Limited. The
executing agency engage M/s B & S Engineering Consultants Pvt. Ltd. as design consultant for the
detailed design of the bridge.

It is proposed to provide one single span of 55m with returns on either end of bridge. The type of
superstructure proposed for the bridge is of through truss type having cast-in-situ deck slab. And the
superstructure is directly resting on pilecap through bearings.

This design note presents the bearing load calculations of steel truss superstructure of 55m span.

The bearings should also carry the design translation as well as rotation.

The calculations of DL, SIDL, LL, Wind & Seismic are presented in subsequent pages. The truss is
idealised as a 3D model in STAAD.Pro.

The effects of wind forces are calculated as per clause 209 of IRC:6-2017. Since, for the calculated
exposed height, wind velocity at deck level is greater than 36m/s, effect of wind forces on live load is not
considered. Another case, having wind velocity at deck level equal to 36m/s is considered along with live
load effects.

Special Vehicle is also considered.
