EEI - BLUEPRINT ANALYSIS CHECKLIST

INSTRUCTIONS
The program engineer should perform a blueprint analysis to have a clear image of customer requirements. OK, NOT OK,
Please fill in answering if the sentence is OK, NOT OK or N/A. N/A?
1.0 General Information
1.1 Verify if print received is approved (signed) by EEI PEM or Customer. OK
1.2 Have MUPS been added to the print.
1.2.1 Has proof of the customer approving the MUPS been provided (signature, e-mail, etc.) OK

2.0 Dimensions:
Dimensions should be referenced on the blueprint and should be whole numbers, unless it's an overmolded component (direcct connect,
2.1 OK
reaction plate, etc.).
2.2 Verify if taping is defined. The untaped sections as well as the taped sections should be identified. OK
2.3 Clip Dimension
2.3.1 Does the harness use clips OK
2.3.2 Clips should be referenced to fixed points, such as connectors, clips or other components. OK
Clips should only be referenced to one point. If a clip has two points of reference, EEI program engineer should request a
2.3.3 OK
fixed dimension and the other one will be used as reference only.

2.3.4 Verify if you are using a fastener clip add some tape underneath to prevent the clip from moving from its position. NA

2.3.5 Clips dimensions should be referenced to the edge of the clip, not the middle of the clip, unless it’s a christmas tree clips. NA

2.4 Loose Terminal dimensions

2.4.1 Dimensions for loose terminal or single wire takeouts should be specified on the blueprint. NA
2.5 Referential Dimensions

If the print calls for referential dimensions. These should not be approved for manufacturing. The program engineer should
2.5.1 NA
establish a proper tolerance for each dimension (use tolerance chart). These should be marked up on the print.

2.6 Grommets
2.6.1 Does the harness have a grommet (slip on, overmolded, etc) NA
2.6.2 Every dimension of connectors after the grommet should be referenced directly to the grommet. NA
Tolerances for all measurements after the grommet should be inverse to the tolerance of the grommet in order to comply to
2.6.3 NA
the minimum and maximum measurements.
2.6.4 Verify that all cavities be blocked to prevent leakage. NA
2.7 Tubings
2.7.1 Does the harness has a tubing OK
2.7.2 Verify that the tubing dimension is reflected on the blueprint. OK
2.7.3 Verify if the tubing is slit or non-slit. OK
Verify if print requests more than one type of tubing. Tubings must be the same, if not, tubings must be different color or
2.7.4 NA
have a stripe since we have to detect the difference between them.

2.7.5 Verify if tubing can be commonized when harness uses the same tubings with different dimensions, NA
2.8 Tapes
Verify if print requests more than one type of tape. Tapes must be the same, if not, each type of tape must be different color
2.8.1 OK
since we have to detect the difference between them.
2.8.2 Verify if tape color can be changed when the tape is placed over an area with the same color. OK

2.9 Tolerances

2.9.1 Verify if every dimension has a tolerance, either next to the dimension itsfelf or called out in the notes. OK
2.9.2 If a +/- 5 mm or less tolerance exists, evaluate the application in order to request change. OK
3.0 Views of Takeouts and Components
3.1 Verify if the components have a labeled insertion or engagement view. Sockets should have both views. OK

3.2 Verify Connector Physical Insertion/Engagement view against Device Transmittal and/or Customer specifications OK
If physcial component is not available, the product engineer should confirm with component supplier the cavity
3.3 OK
numbers in connector and check against information given by customer
3.4 Verify if the clips have cross sections. NA
Verify if double sided tapes have cross sections. In addition, prints must indicate in which way the adhesive side needs to be placed
3.5 NA
following customer's requirements.
3.6 Verify splices have a representative views in print. NA
3.7 Verify daisy chains have a representative views in print. NA
If harness uses Empire's components (sockets, W2, O rings, etc) the color must be specified in the pinout box of each component. For the
3.8 NA
O rings the color must be specified in the description in the BOM.
4.0 Processes:

Empire Part Number: TRW1267-PT00
4.1 Crimping

Blueprint Checklist Proc. (PLAEEI-004) Page 2 of 3 Rev. 8

Customer Part Number: A0076226
Empire Part Number: TRW1267-PT00
4.1.1 All terminals, wire and wire seals should be applicable to the harness design and connectors. OK
4.2 Splices
4.2.1 Do the harness have splices NA
4.2.2 If harness has leak specifications heat shrink must be adhesive to avoid leakage. NA
4.2.3 Verify if the splice configuration is defined through the pinout on the blueprint. NA
4.2.4 Verify the location of splices.
4.2.4.1 Verify if there's any splice located at least 80mm from connectors or fixed points and 50mm from takeout nodes. NA
4.2.4.2 Unless otherwise specified in the blueprint, a splice shall not be located within 50mm of any up taped takeout that
NA
contains a circuit from the same splice
4.2.4.3 Splice shall be located away from any areas that will be bent when installing, to avoid splice breakage or
NA
weakening.
4.2.4.4 Unless otherwise specified in the blueprint, a splice shall not be located one over the other. NA
4.2.4.5 Evaluate if a daisy chain can be used instead of a splice. NA
4.3 Molding
4.3.1 Verify VI status. OK
4.4 Assembly - Pinout
4.4.1 Verify that the blueprint contains the pinout for each connector. OK
Verify that circuit color is the same from one end to the other. The program engineer can be guided by circuit numbers or
4.4.2 OK
functions described.

Verify view of connectors. Pinout should be indicated from engagement view that will match connectors cavity numbering in
4.4.3 OK
the component print. If not, then the program engineer needs to clarify with the customer.

4.4.4 Verify if the print indicates/requires wire twisting. The print should include a symbol to specify what circuits will be twisted. NA

4.4.5 If there are any loose wires in the harness an individual heat shrink is required to prevent leakage. NA

4.4.6 Verify that wire colors in print must have the complete word and no abreviations and these must match quoted BOM. OK

5.0 Components
Verify that all components, descriptions, and quantities are correctly listed and assigned to the drawing. If components are not correctly
5.1 OK
defined, print needs to be marked-up with the correct information.

5.2 If the wire harness uses a pigtail and it comes routed, engineer needs to verify that it is purchased with the correct dimension. NA

5.3 Verify that all components assembly specifications are correctly defined, such as CPAs, cavity plugs, PLRs, etc. OK

If the wire harness contains an ID label, verify with customer the correct information that the Id label must contain. Also, print's notes must
5.4 NA
specify the information the bar code label must contain. (Verify cross-reference shown on print against cross-reference shown in Monitor)

5.5 If the wire harness contains W2 sockets, verify with customer if the wires can be swapped. Also, print's notes must specify the information. NA
If the wire harness contains sockets (any type), verify with customer wires routing (axial or right angle). Print must specify this condition for
5.6 NA
every socket.
All the components that are assembled in the lamp and leak tested by the customer, should be shown in the print with the parameters they
5.7 NA
are tested at. The print must specify the leak parameters and the components that should be leak tested.
5.8 Verify if wire harness requires bulb assembly and functional test at EEH, blueprint must specify voltage parameters. NA
