REFLECTION PAPER
(Approaches to Intercultural Communication)

“To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way
we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our
communication with others.”

Having different cultures will never be a barrier to communicate

effectively. It may be difficult at first to understand each other, but having a
good intention and willingness to learn each other’s culture, we can build a
good relationship. This can be only possible by having communication as our
foundation.

Communication is very powerful especially nowadays that we are

experiencing pandemic. We stay at home, we work at home, and we do all
possible things at home. With the use of gadgets, we can easily be updated
with the news about COVID-19 and other related issues. With the use of
different technologies, we realized that our work can possibly be done at home
such as sending emails, reports and alike.

During this pandemic, many of us spent their vacant time watching

NETFLIX. We are being hooked by KOREAN DRAMAS and without realizing
that we gradually learn their culture. It made us think about the differences of
our culture to them and also our similarities.

Communicating to others has a lot to consider, but if we let ourselves

become open-minded and we have the ability to simply listen to them without
judgement, we can avoid miscommunication. Let us not be blinded with the
idea of having different cultures will affect our way of communicating with
them, but let us be reminded that communication is the way to understand
them.
