ABSTRACT
The purpose of this action research was because most of the Year 3 pupils had
problems in learning which were remembering and understanding science topics on
the Solar System. They still have trouble remembering the arrangement of planets
properly and have trouble identifying members of the Solar System because there
are members who have quite the same shape yet have different characteristics.
Therefore, in order to address the consequences faced, the researcher has
conducted action research which aims to find the best approach by using the
Singing Method. Model Kurt Lewin (1948) was used as the theoretical framework for
the study. The study method used both qualitative and quantitative data and
consisted of 10 respondents. Various instruments were used to collect data such as
questionnaires, check-structured observations and interviews as ways to analyze
the data. Through the findings, it was found that pupils over the years remained
confused by the arrangement of the planets present in the Solar System causing
them the difficulties to understand this topic. Therefore, every time learning is
conducted using this method, they will feel fun and learn diligently because it is easy
to remember and understand. In conclusion, the skills of remembering and
understanding of pupils can be improved if we find the appropriate methods to deal
with this problem. Further research regarding this action research was also
proposed by increasing the number of respondents so that the results could be
improvised with more better results.
