DIRECTIONS:

1. Pair the students up in groups of 3 to 4 and have them read primary source
documents that has information on the home front and the Vietnam Front. They will do
this for about 20 minutes.
2. After the 20 minutes are up, the students will come back together and share their
findings with the class.
3. After they share, they will fill out a chart and answer the 3 questions on the Google
docs.
4. When finished, they will submit it to me by the end of the class period.

Students will be able to:


1. demonstrate their understanding on the issues of US foreign policy on the Vietnam
front and also how it was on the home front.
2. generate verbal or written responses by using academic and content vocabulary

1. Do you think it was right for the US to enter Vietnam? Why or Why not?
- People can argue that it was right for the US to enter Vietnam since they were
under the concept of the Domino Theory where if one country falls to
communism, the other countries will also; so, in order to prevent that, the US
sent troops into Vietnam and thus began the Vietnam(ese) War.

2. How do you think both sides felt on the topic of the war?
- Both sides were okay with it in the beginning since they believed it was just
another war that they were going to win(being the US was basically a giant at
that time and Vietnam was just a “little pebble” to the US.) As time progressed,
both sides were starting to get antsy and the people on the homefront wanted out
of the war and wanted the troops to come home. In order to achieve this, they did
many protests during the war. The troops also wanted to go home but they, at the
same time, did not want to go home.
