The area in the course literature I choose to emphasize is Creativity, Innovation and different styles of leadership. Creativity and Innovation
as concepts, refers to the process that an individual or an organization performs to conceptualize new products, procedures and ideas, or to
approach existing ones in new ways. The step of this process that refers to the idea generation is known as Creativity and the subsequent
steps of implementing these ideas toward better procedures, practices, or products is known as Innovation. This is crucial for any
organization to be relevant in today’s competitive market. The outcomes of Innovation can be seen on 2 levels: Micro (organization and
employees) and Macro (society). The innovation on micro level can lead to competitive advantage, maximum return of investment,
increased productivity, positive impact on company culture, etc. On a macro level it can lead to economic growth, increased wellbeing,
reduced sickness, poverty and hunger, etc. (Kylliäinen, 2020) There are different types of leadership which could help an organization to
inculcate innovation and creativity among its employees. They are 1) Transformational leadership where the leader creates a vision and
goals and inspires the members in executing the creative endeavors that supports innovation (Transformational leadership, 2020). 2)
Transactional leadership in which the leaders promote compliance by followers through both rewards and punishment and keep the
followers motivated for a short term (Transactional leadership, 2020). 3) Authentic leadership where the leaders are positive people with
truthful self-concepts who promote openness (Authentic leadership, 2020). By building trust and generating enthusiastic support from their
subordinates, authentic leaders can improve individual and team performance. (J. Martini, 2016). In this meta analyses we try to draw upon
the findings from various journals. In (Gumusluoglu, 2009) the author proposes a novel model to study the effects of transformational
leadership both on employees' creativity at an individual level and on innovation it inculcates at the organization. The study consisted of
R&D employees and managers at micro sized software development companies focusing in developing countries. The author states that
transformational leadership has important effects on creativity at both the individual and organizational levels. He also argues that there is a
positive relationship between transformational leadership and employees’ creativity such that from an organizational level, the
transformational leadership positively associates with the innovation the arises from it. In (Deichmann and Stam, 2015) the author argues
that the transactional leadership positively influences follower organization-focused idea generation by enhancing follower commitment to
the ideation program. In (Jansen, Vera and Crossan, 2009) the author shows that, at the firm level, transactional leadership is particularly
suitable for motivating followers to participate in and contribute to process management systems such as an organizational ideation
program. In (?erne, Jakli? and Škerlavaj, 2013) the authors argue that perceived authentic leadership has greater impact on individual
creativity and on strengthening the positive relationship between creativity and on team innovation than self-ascribed authentic leadership.
And it is important that the leaders emphasize building on authentic relations with the employees so they will perceive the leaders to be
more authentic. If the leader is honest, open and has transparency in the way he operates then he is leading his followers by example
which the followers can look upon and reflect to. This not only has a positive impact on the followers/employees’ creativity and innovation
sets a precedent on an organizational level. All the papers show some level of positive correlations regarding innovation and creativity. The
transactional leadership uses extrinsic motivation and hence this has limitations in fostering creativity and innovation among the group
members when compared to transformational, which uses intrinsic motivation. Therefore, from both the organization and the employee’s
perspective I would suggest a transformational style of leadership since the transformational leader helps bring about major, positive
changes by moving group members beyond their self-interests and toward the good of the organization, and all this while developing and
transforming the group members. For a leader to achieve this he must: • Create a vision • Raise group members awareness • Help
members look beyond self interest • Help members look for self-fulfillment • Helps people understand the need for the change • Invests
managers with a sense of urgency • Commits to greatness • Adopts long range broad perspective • Builds trust in the members • Facilitates
proactive behavior • Concentrates resources when needed All the above steps shall foster creativity and innovation among the group
members, which shall ultimately lead to transformations (DuBrin, 2015). References: • ?erne, M., Jakli?, M. and Škerlavaj, M., 2013.
