Writing a Research Problem

Instructions:
1. Your task is to write a research problem.
2. to contextualize your research problem, state and describe the research. Take off from what
you have gathered in your review of literature.
3. The main body of your research problem should contain the following:
a. The purpose of the study (whether to describe, understand, develop, or discover
something)
b. The central idea that you want to describe, understand, or discover
c. The method by which you plan to collect and analyze data
d. The unit of analysis and/or the research site principle
4. Write your research problem on the space provided below.

Research Problem:
As we all know, Online learning is an effective medium of learning amidst the current crisis of the
world, the COVID-19 pandemic. However, not all students have the ability to acquire the resources
essential for online learning and this can somehow affect the readiness of the students. In addition,
according to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) chair Prospero de Vera III, only 20 % of
state universities and colleges are equipped to conduct online classes. The students’ readiness for
their online classes may be influence due to this problem. Online learning is a self-directed resource in
order to continue the education of the youths throughout the world, and most students are stuck with
this problem. With these qualities being absent, the Senior High School students of Saint Joseph
School Foundation Incorporated may struggle to move forth throughout the experience. The issues
regarding the readiness of the students for online learning in the distance education mode have been
left unattended to. Therefore, this study is developed to explore the readiness of distance education of
students for online learning. The researchers would like to know the impact of the readiness of the
Senior High School Students of Saint Joseph School Foundation Inc. with regards to online learning.

This study aims to determine the readiness in online learning of the Senior High School of Saint
Joseph School Foundation Inc. enrolled in school year 2020-2021. Furthermore, the researchers seek
to answer the following:
1. What is the academic performance of the Senior High School students of Saint Joseph School
Foundation Inc. enrolled in school year 2020-2021 regarding online learning?
2. What is the degree of readiness of the Senior High School students of Saint Joseph School
Foundation Inc. enrolled in school year 2020-2021 regarding online learning?
3. What is the effect of readiness to the academic performance of Senior High School students of Saint
Joseph School Foundation Inc. enrolled in school year 2020-2021 in their online learning?
4. What are the factors that affect the readiness of Senior High School students of Saint Joseph School
Foundation Inc. enrolled in school year 2020-2021 regarding online learning?

There will be only one instrument for this study. The researchers will use a survey questionnaire via
Google forms that will be handed out to the selected Senior High School students which will serve as
our respondents, and simple random sampling will be utilized in this study. Then, after collecting the
results, the researchers will analyse it and this will serve as the researchers’ data for their study.

 Evaluate the research problem: Did the research problem introduce the reader to the
importance of the topic being studied? Was the problem placed into a particular context? Was
a framework for reporting the results provided?

The research problem introduced the importance of the topic being studied to its readers as well as the
objectives of the proposed research. Furthermore, the research problem gave a clear path regarding what
to expect in the results of the research. The proposed research will circle on the issue of the readiness of
the senior high school students of Saint Joseph School Foundation Incorporated regarding online
learning. Moreover, we also aim to discover how the factors that affects the readiness of the students
impacts their academic learning in varying degrees by observing their academic performances with
respects to their acquired grades in from the first grading up to second grading of school year 2020-2021
of Saint Joseph School Foundation Incorporated. The research problem also states the method of
acquiring data and the means of selecting respondents. A survey questionnaire will be utilize in data
gathering while random sampling will be used in the selection of respondents for the proposed research.
