ASSESSMENT

1. Ethics is a system of moral principles. It is important in home management because it


guides our behavior toward making the best choices that contribute to the common good of
all members in the family. 
2. The five ethics of home management are the following:
●Unbiased decisions -without any favoritism as most essential in home management. The
decision maker in family always prove to be right.
●No gender bias -In family, both boys and girls must treated similarly and have equal
opportunities.
●Respect for tradition and culture -Every family must respect others customs and
traditions.
●Ethical attitude - by following the laws and internalizing behaviors as their positive attitude
to help family and community living problem free.
●Community and social living -can be achieved only by ethical behavior.
3. Due to the limited availability of resources, the role of management became an essential
part to make the family have a comfortable living especially now that technological
advancement and development of human needs continue to grow.

●Nickell and Dorsey -‘planned activity towards accomplishment of desired ends. It involves
the weighing of values and the making of decisions’
●Mary Parker Follet - ’ the art of getting things done through people.
●kotzin - ‘home management is a practical science.
●Nickell et,al, - to accomplish desired outcome within people.

Management 
●behavioral process that recognizes actions and reactions of persons in living situations.
●interaction process and one has to discuss with others in finding solution to a problem.

Why to manage?
●helps resolve conflicts aroused due to social, technological, political and environmental
changes, and accomplish desired wants/goals of the family.

What to manage?
●Nickel, Rice and Tucker (1976) -Human, economic, and environmental resources.

Ethics of management
●Seetharaman et, al - Unbiased decisions, no gender bias, respect for tradition and culture,
ethical attitude, and community and social living.
