LESSON PLAN IN MAPEH (HEALTH) 9

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to;

a. describe the drug scenario in the Philippines (H9S-IIa-14);


b. create a simple campaign advocacy about drug scenario in the
Philippines through differentiated activities and;
c. reflect on the negative impact and harmful effect of drug use and
abuse in our society.

II. Subject Matter:

c. Materials: LP, Laptop, TV, Speaker, Printed Materials, Visual Aids.

Drug Scenario in the
Philippines

 In the Philippines, drug


use and abuse is a social
and health concern. Poverty
has become an increasing
cause for involvement in the
illegal drug trade. (Belino,
2016).  According to the International
Narcotics Control Board (INCB),
an international drug monitoring
GROUP 1 agency, the Philippines is listed as
one of the countries in Southeast
Asia where drug trafficking is
growing in number.

 Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB)


(the government agency
mandated to formulate policies on
illegal drugs in the Philippines),
GROUP 2 said that there are 1.8 million
current drug users in the
Philippines, and 4.8 million
Filipinos report having used illegal
drugs at least once in their lives
(Ann Glob Health, 2019).

 According to the 2012 statistics


available in the Dangerous Drugs
Board Website, the most common
type of substance of abuse among
GROUP 3 Filipinos are: Metamphetamine
Hydrocholride (Shabu), Cannabis
(Marijuana), Inhalants (Contact
Cement adhesive).

 President Rodrigo R. Duterte


assumed office on June 30, 2016
and his government launched an
extraordinary campaign against
illegal drugs. He declared a “war
on drugs” targeting users,
GROUP 4 peddlers, producers and suppliers,
and called for the Philippine
criminal justice system to put an
end to the drug menace. (Ann
Glob Health, 2019).

 The “war on drugs,” by Duterte


government has utilized
disciplinary measures and has
mobilized the Philippine National
Police (PNP) and local
government units nationwide. With
orders from the President, law
enforcement agents have
GROUP 5 engaged in extensive door-to-door
operations (Ann Glob
Health,2019).

D. Application

may simply voice record and send it
on messenger or submit your

upgrade your drawing through aid
of digital applications if you are well
versed in using it or you may simply
use bond paper/illustration board
for your output.
