Book Drive
● MAO is partnering with UCAN to participate in their book drive
● In an effort to spread literacy around the globe, UCAN is accepting book
donations to help build libraries in impoverished areas!
● Drop off @ the Pavilion near the Riverstone Clubhouse
○ January 16th : 10 am - 12 pm
○ January 31st : 2 pm - 4 pm
○ February 13th : 10 am - 12 pm
○ February 28th : 2 pm - 4 pm
○ March 13th : 10 am - 12 pm
○ March 28th : 2 pm - 4 pm

accept/don’t accept!

Book Drive

● Drop Off Instructions:
○ Have your books in a ziploc/plastic bag
○ Have your books counted beforehand and on a sticky note, write your
name, number of books, and what club you’re donating for.
● You may earn 1 hour for every 5 books you donate
○ Cap of 2 hours
● UCAN is offering the following incentive:
○ Raffle for $10 gift card : 1 entry for every 10 books donated
● Submit picture of books donated on the MAO website
● All this information can be found on UCAN’s instagram as well!
Math Poster

● Create an informative poster on a famous mathematician


○ Must include a summary of why they were are famous and a
list of accomplishments
● Be creative!
○ Max of 1 hour
Hope for the Homeless Drive
● Student Council is hosting a “Hope for the Homeless” drive where they will be collecting
essentials items to donate to the homeless.
● Because of the pandemic and the recent winter storm, the homeless have been hit
especially hard. This drive is a way to alleviate some of those unfortunate conditions in
any way that we can!
● You must sign up for the items you would like to bring:

● You may earn half an hour for every $5 spent
○ Cap of 2 hours
○ Send a picture of your receipt through Remind to earn credit
● The drive is from March 11th to March 22nd
● Drop Off:
○ There will be 2 containers labeled “gently used” and 2 containers labeled “unused”
located at the front of the school
○ Make sure you place your items in the correct bins!
Log1 Math Contest
● The Log1 Contest provides an excellent opportunity for a school to
participate in a competition similar to the National Convention contests
and compete against schools from across the country and the world, while
staying right at their home school.
● Students compete only against other students with similar math course
background.
● The Log1 test will be on May 1, 2021
● More information on registration will come soon!
Virtual Math Webinars
● UCLA is hosting a math and science lecture over Indistinguishability Obfuscation: How to Hide
Secrets within Software
○ March 23rd from 3:00-4:30 pm MT

● In order to get credit for hours, you must write a small 4-6 sentence summary of
what you learned and a screenshot of the Zoom call as proof.
● You submit the summary and screenshot the day of the Seminar on the MAO
website
● Officers will be monitoring participants so make sure you stay the whole time to
earn credit. Failure to do so will result in no hours.
● Earn 1 hour and 30 mins!

NASA Pi Day Challenge
● Pi day is coming up and to celebrate, NASA has released real world
application problems for High Schoolers to solve!
● Using your high school knowledge, attempt three problems for an hour
and six problems for two hours
○ Cap of 2 hours
● Must submit picture of responses to submission link on website by
March 14th
● Answers will be released on the 15th

● T-Shirts will be arriving late March and early April so be on the lookout
