Activity 1
About a year ago, Mr. Lawrence Castillo, an Institute of Human Kinetics graduate
from Benguet State University worked as Team Lakay Fitness Gym instructor. On this
matter, I had chosen him to be interviewed as he was able to gain knowledge on how to
be an instructor. According to him, he handled a sauna facility and a training center and
for the equipment, he was able to handle gears like punch mitts, gloves, and other combat
equipment.
He said that in planning purchases, the first thing to consider is the demand of
each equipment because the higher the demand is, the higher the supply to be
purchased. Also, he said that marketing strategies like the use of social media platform
such as making an FB page can be used as a page for the purpose of posting the
equipment and services to be offered by the facility.
As for the challenges and difficulties in handling the said facility and resources, he
said that it is a day to day encounter. He cites as an example was the effect of the
lockdown where the facility was closed for months. In this case, rental fee for the building
became a huge problem for there are no clients that can be the provider of the rent. Where
to get and how to start again became a huge question. However, he advised that we
should always look forward for a better tomorrow for the better outcomes because all
things come with a purpose.
He also added that always ask help to the heads and supervisors of the company
because no man is an island.
He even expressed that upon assessing, considering the number of students to be
catered within a class must be given importance so that scheduling may be done if there
will be a lot. Consider also the space of the gym to be utilized. Most importantly, ask the
trainer if how many students can be handled within a specific class. For the facilities like
the sauna, always check the electric charges and even its performance if it’s functioning
well.
Lastly, the cleanliness of the7 facility is important that is why other staffs are also
an asset to the maintenance of the Fitness Gymnasium.
Activity 2
Make the most out of it! A phrase which entails that if I will be given a chance to
observe, utilize and teach in a facility, I must find myself appreciating and learning
everything that will come in the way.
In observing, I can gain more knowledge on how to handle the equipment properly.
I have learned that it is not easy to manage facilities properly. There are many things
which needs to be done by a manager or an employee to make sure that the facility is
running smoothly. The first thing which needs to be done is the management of
equipment. This includes the maintenance of equipment, installing new machines and so
on.
