Spring 2021 PBIS Teacher Weekly Focus and Reward Schedule

The PBIS team identified a school-wide need to increase student attendance,

engagement, and participation during the 2020-2021 school year. We determined that
setting school wide goals for behavior and participation is a way to increase student
buy-in and celebrate hard work and success.

How will students earn this reward?

Students will earn the reward by keeping up with work in their classes. Students will be
excluded from the reward during Exploratory Enrichment if they have more than three
0’s in more than one class. Once per month during PLT, teachers will take
approximately 5-10 minutes to scan their grade book and add student names to the
“Students with Three or More 0’s” List. The PBIS team will review the list and determine
which students are eligible to participate and which students will participate in grade
recovery.

What should teachers do with the Weekly Focus?

Part of our goal for PBIS is to teach positive behaviors we would like to encourage in
our students. Teachers can incorporate the weekly focus into their warm up or exit
ticket, into their vocabulary throughout the week, and give shoutouts to students who
are exemplifying that focus. You can also set goals or competition between your
classes.

Weekly Focus Support Materials

How can teachers reward students for standing out with the weekly focus?
Some ideas or ways to reward students is to give them a shoutout on social media,
make a slide on your daily slides and the winner of the weekly focus for each of your
classes, or even give a positive contact home such as an email or talking points
shoutout.

The Weekly Focus is NOT meant to be an additional lesson to teach. It is meant to help
develop positive behaviors in our students as well as offer ideas to support
engagement. The Weekly Focus will also be included in the Weekly Update sent out on
Sundays. The PBIS team will link resources or ideas to help support teachers each
week!

How do I know what room I am hosting and what students will be joining me on
the Reward Days?
Teachers will be sent a survey each month to ask what room (or grade recovery) they
would like to host and which periods they would be willing to host (across 4th, 5th, and
6th). A PBIS team member will reach out and ask for your google meet link. A master
schedule will be posted in the Weekly Update the week of the reward with meet links in
case students need help troubleshooting.

Students who are eligible will be asked to sign up for what room they would like to join
for their reward each month. Teachers hosting a reward room will be given a list of their
students to invite through google calendar or email. Students with Three or More 0’s will
join a session to check grades and work on missing assignments. If a student joins your
session but was not invited, please exit them from the meet and let Ms. Hyatt know.
