El pasado simple sirve para expresar una acción ya realizada, utilizando el

auxiliar (ED) para los verbos regulares, y para los verbos irregulares utilizaremos
sus variaciones de acuerdo a los tiempos.

EJEMPLO DE PASADO SIMPLE AFIRMATIVO CON UN VERBO REGULAR:

Para el pasado simple en negación utilizaremos el auxiliar (DID), la cual nos
permite expresar la realización de una acción, pero para el pasado simple
negativo se le agrega la negación (NOT).

EJEMPLO:
PASADO SIMPLE EN NEGACION
Pronombre Auxiliar + negación+ verbo de la acción en infinito

I (yo) DID + NOT+ PLAY


YOU (usted) DID + NOT+ PLAY
HE (el) DID + NOT +PLAY
SHE (ella) DID + NOT +PLAY
IT (eso /esa) DID + NOT +PLAY
WE DID + NOT +PLAY
(nosotros)
YOU DID +NOT +PLAY
(ustedes)
THEY DID + NOT +PLAY
(ellos)

De igual manera utilizaremos el auxiliar (DID), para hacer preguntas.


EJEMPLO:
PASADO SIMPLE EN INTERROGACION
Igual que en los anteriores ejemplos para todos los pronombres utilizamos el
mismo auxiliar.
Con la siguiente estructura haremos las preguntas:
AUX + SUJ +VERBO

Pronoun + verb in past + complement.

I saw a movie yesterday

You studied chemistry last night

He/she went to Buga last Saturday

They visited their grandfather last Friday

We walked in the park this morning

Negative form of the past

As in the simple present in the simple past we also use an auxiliary, the
auxiliary is didn’t example.

Grammar structure:

Pronoun + aux did in + the verb in base + complement


Negative form

I didn’t study English

You didn’t go to dance

He didn’t do the activity

She didn’t talk with her boyfriend

They didn’t work yesterday

We didn’t go to the university

Question form: yes no questions


Making question in past we used the auxiliar did at the beginning of the
sentence.

Grammar structure

Aux + pronoun + verb in base form + complement

Did you go to the concert yesterday?

Did He-she study for the exam?

Did She walk with the dog?

Did They take the picture?

Did we go to the cinema?

Affirmative Answers:

Yes, I, we, he, she, they did

Negative answers:

No, I, we, they, he, she didn’t

Note: there is a group of verbs called irregular verbs where they change
completely from present to past and there is other group where you just add
Ed.

Talk talked
