CTMS Civil Defence kits Last week we requested Civil Defence kits to be sent to school for your child. Thank you
to those parents who responded. If you have not already sent your child’s kit to school please send these along as
soon as possible and put them in the staff room. Thank you.
Christchurch Earthquake: In response to the Christchurch earthquake several students organised a fundraising
activity to collect money for the Christchurch Earthquake Relief Fund. It was great to see the whole school
support the fundraiser with students and staff wearing the Canterbury colours red and black. Thank you to all our
families who supported through your child’s gold coin donation. The students laid a coin trail in the shape of a Koru.
The koru symbolised a renewed spirit of support for the people of Christchurch affected by the earthquake. A big
thank you to Ruby Gardner and Charlie Lake for initiating and organising the activity. The school raised $108:00.
Entertainment Books 2011: These are available to purchase from the office at $60 each with $12 going to the
school so please ask around your friends and workmates if they would like to order one. If you pre-buy your book
now you will receive extra vouchers including one complimentary admission to the Hurricanes game on 12th March.
The books are filled with hundreds of offers for restaurants, local attractions, cinemas, sports events, hotel
accommodation etc and you receive 50% off, 25% off or 2 main meals for the price of 1 offers. The vouchers in
the books are valid from March 2011 until June 2012.
Yummy Fruit Stickers: CTMS collects Yummy Fruit stickers for sports equipment. Please start collecting the
yummy stickers off individual apples sold at New World and Pak n Save. Collections sheets are available from the
office to stick them on.
Education Review Office: Next week Frank Hay and Sheryl Drayton from the Education Review Office (ERO) will
be visiting the school. ERO review all New Zealand schools on a three year cycle. Their main focus is on self-review
processes and on the progress, engagement and achievement of students at CTMS. We look forward to welcoming
the ERO team next week.
Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews: Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on the week of 28-31 March.
Parents will receive a letter where they are able to request an interview time during this week.
ASB Banking: ASB Bank (CTMS school bank) provides the opportunity for our students to set up their own savings
account. The ASB staff are coming to school this week to talk to the children about this initiative. Forms are
available outside the school office.
Visit from MP Grant Robinson: Next Friday we are delighted to welcome our local Wellington MP, Grant Robinson
to CTMS.
