A. PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH AND SCOPE OF THE RESEARCH

Purpose of the research, for example
Topic: The Translation and Analysis of Phrasal Verb: a Descriptive Analytical
Study
This research aims at:
1. Obtaining fsactual data how phrasal verbs have been translated from English
into Indonesian. (This is the topic sentence, elaborate into a paragraph consisting
at least of 6 sentences !).
2. Getting information whether there are Indonesian equivalents for the English
phrasal verbs (elaborate again into a paragraph of at least 6 sentences)
3. Etc., etc,

STUDENTS ! If you have 2 problems then the purposes are 2, are 2, if you
have 3 prob;ems then the purposes are 3, etc., etc.

Scope of the Research, for example

{Here you explain that you are only investigating the translation of certain items
(depending what your topic is) e.g. phrasal verbs,(so only phrasal verbs, NOT idioms
or similes, though all of them belong to idiomatic expressions) form English into
Indonesian or vice versa.
Topic: The Translation and Analysis of Phrasal Verb: a Descriptive Analytical
Study
This study is only investigating the translation of English phrasal verbs into Indonesian.
Phrasal verbs are verbs combined with either prepositions or adverbs or both. This
description of English phrasal verbs do not exist in the Indonesian language. Phrasal
verbs belong to idiomatic expression, next to similes, idioms, metaphors and many
more. However, the researcher in this study discuses only phrasal verbs. Other
idiomatic expressions are beyond the researcher’s investigation.

STUDENTS: Depending on your topics and problems you make your own scope of the
research, a paragraph comprising minimum 6 sentencrs.
