Ameliorate

Abate Subside: প্রশমিত হওয়া, হ্রাস পাওয়া;


Moderate: Less extreme, সহনীয়, মাঝারি;
i.e. The storm suddenly abated.
Attenuate To make something less effective or weaker;

i.e. The drug attenuates the effect of the pain.


Alleviate To make something less severe;
Relieve (To make a problem less serious);
Mitigate (To make something less serious or harmful);
উপশম করা;

i.e. These measures are designed to alleviate the situation.
i.e. Are we doing enough to alleviate poverty in these countries?
Ameliorate To make something better;
কোন কিছুর অবস্থা অপেক্ষাকৃ ত উন্নত করা;
i.e. Steps have been taken to ameliorate the situation.
i.e. The new laws were designed to ameliorate the problem of chronic debt. (নতু ন আইন
এমনভাবে করা হয়েছে যাতে দীর্ঘকালীন অপেক্ষা কমে)
Assuage To make unpleasant feeling less severe [This is actually used on feelings];
Soothe (feeling);
Mitigate (feeling);

Conciliatory Having intention or effect of making angry people calm;
Reconcile (তর্কে কেউ রেগে গেলে তাকে শান্ত করার প্রচেষ্টা);

Practicing self-denial;
Austere (Allowing nothing that gives pleasure; Not comfortable)

Alacrity Great willingness or Enthusiasm;

Zealot A person who is extremely enthusiastic about something;

Apathy
Antipathy A strong feeling of dislike;

Torpor A state of not being inactive and having no energy or enthusiasm;
Lethargy;

Appease
Appease To make somebody calmer or less angry by giving them what they want;
Pacify (To make somebody calmer or quiet who is upset or angry);
Soothe (To make somebody calmer who is anxious or upset);
Relieve;
i.e. Amendments (আইন বা অন্যকিছুকে নিজের সুবিধামত পাল্টে নেয়া) have been added to appease
the local pressure group. (স্থানীয় চাপ সৃষ্টিকারীদের সন্তুষ্ট করতে আইনে সংশোধন আনা হয়েছে).

Capricious Sudden/quick change of mind/something.
যা হটাত করেই পালটে যেতে পারে;
i.e. It’s always better to keep an umbrella in this capricious climate.
i.e. A movie star who was capricious and difficult to please. (একজন তারকা যিনি মুহূর্তে মত

Volatile Changing easily from one mood to another;
i.e. Such a volatile personality.
Able to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse;
Unstable;
i.e. The political situation was becoming more volatile.
Vacillate To keep changing your thought and opinion about something that is annoying;
i.e. The country's leaders are still vacillating between confrontation and compromise.

Castigation
Castigation Severe criticism;

Caustic Sarcastically biting (বিদ্রূপাত্মকভাবে কাউকে আঘাত করা যাতে Sarcasm মেশানো থাকে);

Aberrant
Aberrant স্বাভাবিক নয় এমন আচরণ; স্বাভাবিক থেকে আলাদা এমন;
Abnormal: অস্বাভাবিক;
A deviant: এমন বাক্তি যে স্বাভাবিক আচরণ থেকে বিচ্যুত;
i.e. The aim is to find the cause of the child's aberrant behavior.

i.e. She confounded her critics and proved that she can do the job.

Refute To prove something is wrong;
i.e. This study cannot provide data to confirm or refute this hypothesis.
Recluse
Recluse Favoring a solitary life;
i.e. A reclusive millionaire.

Refractory
Refractory stubborn or difficult to control;
i.e. his refractory pony (টাট্রুঘোড়া)।

Recalcitrant Unwilling to follow rules or instruction;


Unable to control;
i.e. He was like a teacher encouraging a recalcitrant pupil.

Proscribe
Proscribe To say officially that something is banned;
i.e. Officials promptly proscribed the procedure.
