Purpose of the Report

There are several types of accommodation available to students of FAST, and it is the responsibility of the
institution to focus on factors that can attract and retain students to their residences. This study aims to
investigate satisfaction of with on-campus accommodation with an emphasis on the ethnicity of the
students.

Statement of Problem

The university needs to install an on campus hostel for the following reasons:

 The level of students’ satisfaction with hostel facilities goes a long way in making life comfortable for
them and has a positive impact on their academic performance and physical well-being.
 There is a direct correlation between the satisfaction levels, both physical and psychological, of students
and the hostel environment.

Criteria for vendors

The following criteria were considered to determine which construction company would best meet our
university’s needs:

Budget:

To ensure that spending follows a plan, supports business objectives, stays within preset limits, and does not
exceed available funds.

Time management:
During the planning stage, all work activities should be properly understood, and planned in detail to optimise the
allocation of resources and reduce the potential for ‘unknowns’.

Work competency:

To distinguish we need the company to exhibit a competitive advantage to show us that they have the capability to achieve
the strategic objectives .The company must offer us best of their construction skills, management skills, professionalism,
risk management, safety measures, maintain their promised standards and sustainability.

Needs Assessment

With residential institutions becoming increasingly popular with parents and students alike, educational
institutions are tasked with not just managing academics but also student life. When it comes to hostel life, of
paramount importance for any institution is student safety and comfort.

Vender Evaluation

Dascon construction company-

DASCON is one of Pakistan’s leading construction companies with over three decades of
experience and expertise in construction and development of civil, steel fabrication and
land development works. It is an organization of highly qualified engineers, project managers and
technical professionals. The total cost provided by the company is € 25409.30 with compensation in any
unforeseen situation and in case of loss of time and mismanagement on behalf of the company

Associated Constructors Limited-

ACL is one of the few civil engineering companies of Pakistan who have been granted a NO LIMIT license by the
Pakistan Engineering Council. The target markets of ACL are public sector development projects and large
projects in the private sector. The cost presented by the company is € 19023.87.The company has assured work
quality and to make up for the time loss or any mismanagement issue.

Summary of Findings

The construction costs provided by the two construction companies exceed the budget. However, the two
companies are quite competitive and assure the best possible results that could be achieved in the given time
frame.
Recommended Action

Given the combination of budget, time management and work competency, the company that meets the
criteria the most is Associated Constructors limited. It is recommended organizing a meeting between the
company executives and the university’s authoritative committee to cut down the cost to bring it with in the
budget and discuss other important matters to avoid risks and to work out the best possible plans .
