1. Which model of management of change could be used to facilitate the merger process?
2. How were the managerial strategies and practices different for each of the companies?
3.Was the merger a "merger of equals"? What is your assessment?
4. How was the people side of the merger process handled ?
5. Did the merger help in better utilization of talent and capabilities?

2. Sonoco

1. What was happening to the packaging industry at the time of the case? How did these changes
impact Sonoco's strategy?
2. What were Sonoco's strengths in terms of its culture and people? What were the company's major
weaknesses?
3. What were the changes that were initiated in the HR processes? Do you think they would be
effective in solving the problems the company was facing?
4. As an HR manager what other changes would you have suggested to Sonoco?

3. Headstart Industries

1. What do you think of the HIL Board's response to the declining performance of the water pump
division? Is the appointment of the new CEO justified?
2. What are the underlying problems the organization and division is facing?
3. If you were the HR manager, what organizational changes would you suggest and which HR practices
would you like to start/ stop in HIL?

B. Choose any organization and showcase how the HR strategy is aligned with the business strategy of
that organization. How the different HR functions support the business strategy? In case there has
been a change in the business strategy, how has that lead to a change in the HR strategy? ( Report
