THE INFORMATION SYSTEM: AN ACCOUNTANT’S PERSPECTIVE

There are lot of things that come up to my mind when I first saw this subject in my
study load. I heard some fourth year students saying its more on computer. I felt like
asking myself, is it not too early to take this subject? For heaven’s sake, I am so fucked
up when it comes to computers and everything about its function. Literally speaking, I’m
doom at this one. At the end, I chose to trust myself that I can do this, my mentor can
help me.
Before the class starts, I managed to research a little bit about this subject. Although, I
keep on silent mode during the first interaction when Ms. Magbanua said, do not come to
my class unprepared. Which obviously mean, we need to study and research right before
her class. What I imagined before was a complete opposite. Actually, I learned it little by
little. It all starts at chapter 1, which I never thought that a system could be a
subsystem also. I paid attention upon every class session because the subject actually
catches my attention later on. I also learn how important to differentiate accounting
information system from management information system. Right before this subject, I
wondered why in the school’s accounting area staffs keep on telling us to go to the MIS
or to the Accounting Information System area. I did not even think how useful it is. I
just thought they come up with that name with that “system” at the end because it
actually runs through technology, though partly yes. Here comes this subject and
explained its whereabouts, I already understand why. For me the subject is getting more
interesting, and I don’t mind if I lack some skills in computers for as long as I would try
my best to absorb all the lectures given to us I know I can manage.

For me there is no need to rush things to learn, it is still chapter 1, yet I discovered a lot
of things. And I think there is no need for me to make this looks like presenting a
discussion. In real life, I realize more than enough for the chapter 1 lesson, and it’s
funny how the subject I hated turns out to be an interesting one. I am still looking
forward to the next chapter. What might some amazing things I would discover next?
