WED MAY 6, THURS MAY 7, FRI MAY 8

WHAT? A sick-out is when workers collectively take sick days to make demands heard. You are
entitled to 3 sick days per academic year as a RIGHT under our union’s contract with NYU.
You don’t need a doctor's note.
We, NYU grad students and TAs, will collectively take sick days from May 6-8 to make NYU act!

WHY? NYU has not responded to a single demand of graduate students. NYU has put its budget
ahead of people. Our lives can’t wait until the next fiscal quarter! We need summer
funding NOW, fellowship extensions NOW, support for international students NOW. By
withholding our labor to send a message, we make NYU better; by responding to
COVID with austerity, NYU makes us SICK.

WHO? All NYU graduate students!

HOW? Notify faculty & students that you won't be able to work because you're SICK.
No recitations! No office hours! No work emails! No classes!
There are sample emails and different ways of participating.

ISN’T THIS RISKY? In a GSOC job, you're entitled to 3

sick days without documentation. Just inform your
supervisor in advance. BUT this is not a
union-sanctioned activity. Individuals are not
completely protected, and some bosses might try to
intimidate. It would be SICK for NYU to take action
against graduate students fighting for survival in the
midst of a pandemic.

COLLECTIVE ACTION IS KEY! Our numbers

and support for each other are the most important
factors in making this action a success and in protecting
the most vulnerable among us. NYU can’t retaliate
against its entire community! WE ARE NYU!
Talk to fellow grads. Get EVERYONE involved!

NYU MUST MEET OUR DEMANDS BY MAY 5!
