Design
Theoretically the rectifier transformers are not different from
the network transformers in calculation, design principles, as
well as construction solutions. But the operation and connec-
tion of rectifier unit gives some special requirements, this
should be taken into account at design stage. The most im-
portant requirements are as follows;
• Connection of rectifier unit
• Demands of voltage regulation
• Non-sinusoidal currents
• Reaction of the harmonics on the grid

verter and the feeding network
• Suppression of harmonics generated by the frequency
converter
• Protecting the feeding network from harmonic contami-
nation
• Protection of ambient and the feeding network against

Application
The rectifier transformers supply the power to the converter equipments. This kind of transformer
does not rectify, but it transforms the voltage of the network for the rectifier equipment.
