To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Conner Susalla in his pursuit of a
secondary teaching position.

Mr. Susalla recently completed teaching Spanish I and Spanish II for multiple grade levels. He
had the added uncertainty of completing virtual instruction during his internship. While this
situation proved difficult for many seasoned teachers, Mr. Susalla took it in stride and worked
tirelessly to find online tools and programs that would best serve his students. This highlighted
his patience, flexibility, and diligence in trying new things – all qualities necessary for an
effective classroom teacher.

Early on, Mr. Susalla commanded the respect of his students. He maintained an orderly
classroom (even virtually) and carefully planned lessons and activities that would engage
students. Most of his effective management skills were due to his thorough forethought and
follow-through with his plans. I was always impressed to see Mr. Susalla’s level of reflection
and adjustment. He did not take it personally if something didn’t go as well as he had hoped; he
simply adjusted and tried again. He maintained high expectations for his students, as well as
himself. He was also never afraid to ask for assistance and feedback when needed.

Even with virtual classes and meetings, Mr. Susalla always portrayed a professional attitude and
demeanor towards staff, students, and families at Lincoln. Not only was he exceptional at leading
parent-teacher conferences, but he even created a test-prep resource for our entire staff to use
prior to standardized testing. He has proven to be creative, responsible, and caring.

Throughout this semester, Mr. Susalla has met or exceeded expectations for a classroom teacher.
He has proved effective as a teacher and would be qualified for any position in which he might
apply.
