7. Let p be a constant. When the polynomial f(x) = x3 + (2p + 1)x2 – 2x – 1 is divided by x + 1, the
remainder is p.
(a) Find the value of p.
(b) Paul claims that the remainders are the same when f(x) are divided by x + 1 and x − 2
respectively. Do you agree? Explain your answer.
