Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Phase 3 – Scenario 2

1. Activity Description

15, 2021 2021
With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcome:

To interpret the information obtained from different data collection instruments

through participatory observation for the application and adaptation of activities in
virtual and face-to-face contexts.

The activity consists of:

For this practical course you have to observe 48 hours of English classes, divided into
the three intermediate activities of the course as follows:
Phase 2 – Scenario 1: 15 hours
Phase 3 – Scenario 2: 17 hours
Phase 4 – Scenario 3: 16 hours
Total: 48 hours

Therefore, for this practical activity, you have to observe 17 hours out of 48 that
lasts the participant observational practice in this course. These 17 hours of English
classes observation must be distributed into the three weeks of this activity, and you
have to allocate 5 out of these 17 hours to help and support your school teacher in
the development of the English classes.

Hence, you have to fill in some formats.

Please take a look at the “instructivo para el diligenciamiento de formatos de la

práctica pedagógica.”

Step 1: Formats required for this activity “Diario de campo” and “Formato
deasistencia al lugar de práctica”:
you must use the “Diario de Campo” to take control of every aspect that is present in
the 16 hours of English classes that you have to observe.
You have to fill in three “Diarios de campo”.
In each section of the “Diario de campo”, you must write a deep interpretation and
argumentation. You need to mention the authors of the Units 1 and 2, to support
yourarguments. Cite every source in APA style.

“Formato de asistencia al Lugar de práctica”: This form is to register the attendance

to the observation practice, it needs to have the dates, length of time, and the
signature of the supervisor (teacher, academic coordinator or principal) in the
institution where you will be developing your practice. The dates you register in this
form must match with the ones you include in Plan de Trabajo form.

Step 2: Questionnaire
In this step you have to apply one questionnaire to five students of the course that
you are observing, the questions of the questionnaire are related to students´
needs,likes and dislikes. You can download de questionnaire named, A
questionnaire for Student’s learning needs, in the Learning environment under this
activity guide and evaluation rubric.

Step 3: Analysis
After the application of the questionnaire you have to analyze the results. To do
thisfirst, you have to tabulate the information, you can use tables, graphics,
charts or pies to show the results. Remember that you have to take into account
each answer of each participant. Then, you have to write a paragraph discussing
the results and drawing some conclusions according to students´ answers.
Recommendations for tabulation:
1- Create a chart: for each question with a multiple-choice answer. Dedicate
acolumn for each possible choice.
2- Go through the completed questionnaire: Go through the completed
questionnaires and make a scratch mark for each multiple-choice answer in
thecolumn you have designated for that answer.

 3- Count the scratch: Count the scratch marks you have made next to each
answerto determine the number of people who have chosen that option.
4- Count the total number: Count the total number of completed questionnaires.
Divide the number of people who have chosen each answer by the total number
ofrespondents to calculate the percentage of respondents who have chosen that
particular answer.

Step 4 – Activity design

In this step you have to design an activity for teaching vocabulary using Computer
Assisted Language (CALL). To do this, you have to go to the Learning environment
and read all about Computer Assisted Language.
For the design of the activity you need to have in mind the following:

- Use the template named, CALL activity design. The template is in the
LearningEnvironment under this Activity guide and evaluation rubric.
- Create an evaluation rubric for the activity, using the template mentioned above.
- The activity must last 30 minutes.
- Limit the vocabulary that you have to teach according to students´ level and grade.
- Take into consideration the analysis of the questionnaire.
- Write a short introduction of the activity, in order to contextualize the student.
- Write three objectives aimed to the knowledge that students will achieve at the end
ofthe activity.
- Write the students level and grade.
- Describe the activity step by step.

Step 5: support your school teacher

In this step you have to add pieces of evidence of the support given to your school
teacher, such as screenshots of your tutorial support, workshops, materials…etc.

For the development of the activity consider that:

In the Learning Environment, you must: Check the unit 2 and read all about CALL. In
order to, design the activity, as well as to check the forum of the activity Phase 3 –
Scenario 2 and share your products in the forum.

In the Evaluation Environment, you must:
Deliver a PDF file with:
-Cover page.
- Analysis and tabulation.
-Activity design and rubric.
-You e portfolio with:
*A PDF with: Pieces of evidence of your support given the school teacher.
*A second PDF with: Diarios de campo in PDF format.
*A third PDF with: Formato de asistencia al lugar de práctica in PDF format.

The forms must be uploaded in your official folder drive, in separated PDF forms.
