A Guide to Critical Lesson Review
This task is done for students to be able to get acquainted with the topics of the course and acquire a full
comprehension of the contents.

INTRODUCTION State the title of the work, the author’s name and the date of publication •
outline main ideas of the presentation and identify the author’s thesis • state
your own thesis statement and your main idea about the presentation

SUMMARY Briefly outline the main ideas of the topic presentation. State the major
topics. Provide a summary for each topic.

ANALYSIS/CONTENT Give your critical statements about each topic.


REVIEW Include other sources (with appropriate citations) in discussing your points.
Explain your ideas with specific examples.
CLASSROOM State what classroom practices should be done specifically in the
IMPLICATIONS preparation, use, and evaluation of materials.

REFERECES Provide a reference list at the end part of our paper

Reminders: To come up with a scholarly work, please take note of the following:
1) Use the APA 7th edition in writing your critical review.
2) Font style is Times New Roman, Font 11, double-space
3) Do proper citations of sources.

REQUIREMENT 2
PREPARATION PHASE: SYLLABUS OR LESSON PLAN MAKING

Instructions:
A. Choose a type of syllabus:
1) Structural
2) Notional-Functional
3) Task based
4) Skill based
5) Situational
6) Content based
7) Mix-layered (combination of any of the aforementioned)

B. Devise a lesson plan/syllabus of your chosen syllabus. You can use the format that you
are using in your respective schools.
C. Your syllabus should have all the components and should reflect the principles required
of the chosen type of syllabus.

DESIGNING PHASE: ADAPT AND DESIGN YOUR OWN INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Instructions:
1) For this task, you can either adapt or develop your own instructional materials.
2) Prepare a compilation of 20 instructional materials of several types: worksheets, graphic
organizers, short stories, poetry, and many others.
3) There are many choices from the internet but you can only ADAPT ( not ADOPT) or
DESIGN your IMs according to the needs of your class and students.
4) Follow the sample template below: ( This should comprise the whole bond paper)

EVALUATING PHASE: Evaluate an INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
Instructions:
This task allows you to evaluate the textbooks used in English Language Teaching. Choose your
level: Junior High or Senior High textbooks. Those who are teaching in College, you may also
evaluate textbooks that you are using. Herewith is the checklist for evaluation. Check the
appropriate box that shows your evaluation: Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree.
Eliminate the middle option NS. Only the four scales should be used for evaluation.
After answering the evaluation checklist, provide a writeup/interpretation and discussion showing
the results per table. Get the weighted mean per table. ( Review your statistics)
