In entirety, education during the Spanish regime was privileged only to Spanish students. The
supposed Philippine education was only a means to remain colonizers. Meanwhile, several educated
Filipinos referred to as ilustrados
We should view rizal’s childhood as a typical and simple one. He is just like any other kid except that
Rizal was a very brilliant and determined young boy. Rizal had many happy and beautiful memories. He
grew up with loving parents, and thoughtful caring siblings. At the age of three, his mother teaches him
how to read the alphabet with his sister and he grew up Catholic that’s why he always takes part of the
family daily prayers. Also, we know that Rizal was not just passionate about the importance of
education. He was determined about it. For him, education is the key to the fulfillment of the Filipino
dream. That is why for me, as a Filipino student, I think that we should view the childhood of Rizal as an
inspiration to strive for proper education. I believe that we should not waste Dr. Rizal’s stand on the
value of education. The early years of Rizal is a good way to learn the true meaning of life which we can
be a part to appreciate and love our parents, our town and fulfill a better education to our future.
Rizal always had a desire to learn; that is why for Rizal, the mission of education is to elevate the country
to the highest seat of glory and to develop the people's mentality. Since education is the foundation of
society and a prerequisite for social progress, Rizal claimed that only through education could the
country be saved from domination.
An interesting part of this story of Rizal had been immortalized from his work “Noli Me Tangere” as to
the abuses of the Spanish officials. This chapter inspires us to know more about the experiences in the
early years of Rizal, as a model of his life experiences we can appreciate the good values and memories
that may shape our life.
