ACTIVITY 3
1. In Rizal’s letter Bluementritt he wrote, How do you think
Filipinos can benefit from Rizal’s ideals?

Filipino’s benefit from Rizal’s ideals by really looking at what Rizal, as a

person, achieved, they can gain. By inspiring the minds of Filipinos, he
rose up against the repressive Spanish Government. We would benefit
from studying Rizal's accomplishments as a person by elevating the ideas
of the Filipinos. Educating ourselves and reading history for our own
good and studying his life and works. Furthermore, he believed that we
could learn from a certain idea, rather than forcing it to be used to
influence individuals. Jose Rizal's ideals were a result and synthesis of
what is described as Transcendence philosophy's teachings. His bravery
to fight for freedom and injustice and his stand with certain issues are the
quality we should apply in ourselves as Filipinos.

Jose Rizal's lessons are vital to the Filipino people, particularly the
youth, who need to return their lives to the ideals of independence and
nationalism for which our heroes sacrificed their lives. In addition,
there are many more lessons we may learn from Rizal's life, such as the
importance of being mindful of what is happening in our nation and
refusing to passively accept the injustice we face there
2. How do you think is history shaping Philippine education
today?

History plays a significant role in shaping Philippine education today.

The story of Jose Rizal, a national hero and advocate for education,
embodies the importance of education in the country’s development and
pursuit of independence.

Rizal’s concern for education as a means to attain independence echoes

in the present-day educational system of the Philippines. The focus on
education as a tool for empowerment and nation-building can be seen in
various policies and initiatives. The government places emphasis on
providing accessible and quality education to all Filipinos, recognizing
education as a fundamental right.
Continuation..
The historical context of colonization and the country’s struggle for
independence also influences the curriculum and content taught in
schools. Philippine history, including the heroism and sacrifices of
national heroes like Rizal, is integrated into the curriculum to instill a
sense of national identity, patriotism, and social responsibility among
students.

The history of the Philippines and the influence of national heroes such
as Jose Rizal continue to shape the country’s education system. The focus
on education as a means of empowerment, the integration of national
history in the curriculum, and the lessons learned from the past help
guide the development and evolution of Philippine education today.

welcome it for me, don’t forget those who fell during the nighttime.”
