The pursuit of freedom and independence has always been a central theme in
the life and works of Jose Rizal, a national hero in the Philippines. Rizal's writings,
particularly his novels "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," served as catalysts for
the Filipino revolution against Spanish colonial rule. These works not only depicted the
harsh realities of colonialism but also inspired a sense of nationalism and the desire for
self-determination among Filipinos.
4. Global Solidarity: Rizal's writings also highlighted the idea of solidarity with other
oppressed peoples. This notion resonates in today's interconnected world, where
advocating for the rights and freedom of marginalized groups globally is
essential.
While watching the video documentation I felt something mysterious thoughts came in
my head about sayings Rizal told us. He said “Ang kabataan ang pag asa ng bayan”
was it because there’s a hidden message on his untold story? Was it he just too faithful
that something will happen in the near future? Or He just too genius to predict what will
happen in the near future? That’s why as a member of youth his words still gives me a
glimpse of goosebumps.
In conclusion, the principles and ideas advocated by Jose Rizal regarding freedom,
nationalism, education, and the fight against oppression continue to hold significant
relevance in our modern times. His legacy serves as a reminder that the struggle for
freedom and justice is a timeless endeavor that transcends eras and boundaries.
