Small Group Session Plan
Review
As a review activity, the teacher will reassess the students with
the silent e assessment from last session.
Unscramble
For the unscramble activity, each student will be given a
Unscramble Sight Words worksheet. With this worksheet, the
students will unscramble the sight words they have learned so
far this year and write them correctly on the line provided.
Writing
To practice writing, the teacher will tell the students they need
to write a journal page including at least two sight words. The
journal can be as long as they want and about anything they
want. The students will complete this by using inventive
spelling, so no teacher guidance will be utilized to help with
spelling.
Word Study
For the word study activity, the teacher will use the Sight Words accomplish the journal.
Bingo Game. Each student will begin by choosing a bingo board
(zebra, hippo, monkey, or lion). The teacher will give each
student their corresponding chips that match their board. The
teacher will then shuffle the playing cards and place them face
down on the table. The first student will pick up the top card
and read the word on the card. If anyone has this word on their their bingo cards each time. I was impressed by their ability to
board, they will place a chip on the space. The first person to
get three in a row wins the game.

Anecdotal Notes
Review
I decided to only assess the students on five of the words as a
review. Based on their pre-assessment and post-assessment of
the lesson, they both did much better on the silent e words, so
there was no need for me to assess all the words.
Unscramble
Between the two students, one student did very well and one
student did not. The student who did not do as well surprised
me because she seemed to really know her sight words before
this but seeing them in this format must have been difficult for
her. I did expect them to miss a couple, but one student missed
four and the other missed ten.
Writing
The writing activity went really great with both students. Both
students were able to write using more than two sight words in
their journal page. One of the students did struggle to have the
motivation to spell words on her own, but she was able to

This was definitely the students’ favorite part. Since this was my
last group time with them, I wanted to end with something fun.
We were able to play three games and both students switched
read the sight words on the playing cards because not all of the
words were sight words they have learned in this class this year.
