Instructions/Procedures:

Introduction Time
 Ask Ss if anyone knows what a random act of kindness is? A RAOK is
when you do something kind (big or small) for someone without
expecting something in return! It is something you do that could bring a
smile to someone’s face; but you don’t do it for the recognition or
reward! RAOK can be done anytime, anywhere!
 Tell Ss that you have some kindness posters for us to colour and put
around the school to bring some kindness to other people in our school
community! 6 min
 We are going to start a RAOK jar, in which we will add your (the Ss)
ideas of random acts of kindness, and we will try to choose one each
week moving forward!
o Ask if 4-5 Ss have an idea for a RAOK before we do the posters
o Tell Ss we will add more to the jar afterwards or another day, so
if you didn’t get to share your idea that is okay! Hold onto it or
tell me while you are colouring!
Body Time
Kindness  Show Ss the options for the kindness posters;
Posters read the words on each so they know what they
say!
 Tell Ss they can use their own crayons, or borrow
pencil crayons/markers from the rainbow tower
 Ss should do their best Kindergarten colouring
because other people in our school are going to
see these beautiful posters!
 Ss should write their names on the back of the 18 min
poster.
 Call Ss by table to come and choose their poster
and get started.
 If they finish early, they can have some playdough
time.

 As they finish, begin taking Ss to distribute their

posters.
Conclusion Time
 Before wrapping up completely, ask Ss how it felt to do a RAOK… Ask
6 min
if 3-4 more students have a RAOK idea to share for our jar!

Assessment:
 No assessment for this class

Teacher Notes:
 Be sure to check in w/ office staff, and janitorial staff to ensure they are okay with us
putting pictures around our area/hallways! Be sure to check on the type of tape to use, as
well as give them a plan for clean-up at the end of the week so it does not add to their
jobs!
 Have multiple copies of each picture for Ss to choose from.
 You may also want to check in w/ Lindsay about a plan to distribute our pictures; perhaps
she can take 3-4 kids at a time, or you can rotate with her!

Reflection: How did the lesson go? Is there anything you would do differently next time? What
worked well/ not so well?
