2. Mention some supporting theories mentioned in the journal that
have been used to anchor and support the effectiveness and
efficiency of using the different approaches in ELT in the language
classroom.
- These four language approaches have contributed to the learning ability of the students or
learners. Some examples that are commonly used in teaching language in the classroom
are making or writing essays, reports, role-plays, spelling drills, listening and reading
drills, analysis, and such. These examples have supported the learning abilities and
learning applications of learners to the language, and comprehension.

3. what are the teachers' roles and the students' roles when one uses
these approaches. Make a list of the four approaches and identify
each role.

4. Explain why an ELT facilitator needs to consider the availability of


instructional materials before choosing an ideal approach to use in
English Language Teaching. Why should an ELT facilitator need to
equip him/herself with teaching strategies before identifying an
appropriate approach to be used in ELT?
- The teacher should choose carefully of the materials to be used when teaching language
because language abilities of learners are different. For example, my experience in
learning spanish and mandarin are different to the language native language that I already
have acquired. These two foreign languages are difficult to learn at first, so the best
teaching approach for this is grammar-translation. The teacher here is the source of
information, meaning the teachers are instructors and the students have no knowledge of
language, so they are participating of the language. When teaching foreign language or
second language, it is only right to use the accurate and proper materials to accomplish
the goal in learning abilities of the students.

5. How did the researchers conclude their study in the comparison of


the four different approaches in ELT?
- Each language teaching approach has emerged to provide a solution to the needs of
society based on the social, economic, and academic requirements as well as pedagogical
perspectives featuring in different epochs, and each have characteristics that is unique to
developing skills. The reason of creating such language approaches is motivation in
teaching techniques, and roles to teachers and students. From the data collected, the
conclusion was that the characteristics of each approach depended on the how the
language was going to be used and the theoretical considerations that framed these
approaches. Some characteristics overlapped the four approaches compared here, like the
use of books. Features of these approaches will also depend on the theoretical foundation
of the approaches, and as to how they are developed historically.
