ASSIGNMENT

Direction: Read the Kartilya ng Katipunan provisions and, through it, visualize the
dynamics of the Katipunan as an organization. Considering the present situation in the
modern world, do you think the provisions of the Kartilya ng Katipunan will help
address some of Philippine society's problems? Cite examples.

Kartilya ng Katipunan is a guidebook for the members of the organization which

contains 14 rules and principles on how a katipunero should behave in a society to
attain peace and order. This organization had the best solution for today’s present
situation. We can apply the provisions of this organization to achieve peace and order
in the society. As a matter of fact, some of the rules and principles carry out the most
important solutions in the modern world problems.

To cite, “It is rational to be charitable and love one’s fellow creature, and to
adjust one’s conduct, acts and words to what is in itself reasonable.”, which is one of
the provisions in the book, is very much applicable today because wrong doings is
everywhere in the place and people are all fighting against each other, not knowing
the essence of their existence. It is important to remind everyone that we should love
and protect each other. To stop the terrorisms, crimes and even wars.

The principle “Defend the oppressed and fight the oppressor before the law or
in the field.” is also very timely and relevant today because the issues of corruption,
unfair justice system never died since then. If the governement officials were
reminded of their job, which is to carry out peace, protect their people and provide
their needs, there will be no Filipino suffering because of poverty and lack of justice.
 And the most important principle of all, “Whether our skin be black or white,
we are all born equal: superiority in knowledge, wealth and beauty are to be
understood, but not superiority by nature.” is all about equality. This is by far the
most important principle that Filipinos must live by their lives because there are so
many cases of bullying and such which lead to the assumption and probable fact that
Filipinos are judgemental and likes to display superiority, even when they’re really
not. It is important to remind ourselves that whatever race and religion we came from,
we are all equal in a sense that we are all born as human being and possess the similar
traits and characteristics. To achieve a orderly maintained society, we should remind
ourselves that we are all equal in God’s eyes.

To sum up, these 14 rules and principles are all applicable to maintain peace and
order today. It is overwhelming that such organization created a guide for its
organization, which we can also apply in our society today because it is very timely
and relevant.
