LOCATION
Bakery
LOCATION ADDRESS
TYPE OF BUILDING/STRUCTURE/LANDSCAPE
Retail bakery, big and open windows.
Building - old victorian building.
Near a high street.
This location is suitable as it is very close to college and is only a short bus ride away from Warrington town centre. This
means I am able to easily travel to this location either by bus or by car. It is also located in a high street which means a lot of
customers will be entering the premises. Due to it being within a busy high street, lots of customers will be entering the
store. This will help me successfully gather the shots I want of the public and how much baking it takes to feed their
customers daily. The business of the streets helps me gain insights and secrets of the business and how they maintain
pleasing their customers
ACCESS
GENERAL INFORMATION
People who might be affected by recording in this location:
Precautions/measures taken to minimise the impact of your recording: - what your gonna do not to annoy people.
● minimise noise
● Minimise obstruction in the store and outside it e.g. traffic
● Keep any wires in safe places
● Keep out of the way near ovens and hazardous areas
● Keep fire exits clear
● Use time efficiently
The crew will be working all around the bakery. In the front, back and also outside to gather the relevant shot types and
observational footage. The crew will be mainly located in the back in order to film observational footage of the baking
process and daily activities within the bakery
The cast will work at the front and also at the back. The front of the bakery will be used as the interview set up where the
cast will be interviewed. Cast will also be interviewed out of opening hours so interviewees aren’t distracted by customers
etc. The cast will also be filmed in the back where they will be making pastries, cakes, bread etc.
Overheating of lights - this can be caused due to the hot environment of the ovens - need to take extra precaution to avoid
this hazard of a fire or any damage to the bakery or anyone at the set.
Wires can also be a main problem - people could be tripping over them and causing further damage
Overcrowdness - it is a small and dense bakery the amount of people working within the set can cause hazards such as
spilling things or accidentally knocking things over. Need to make sure fire exits and places such as ovens are kept clear to
ensure everyone's safety.
Describe the aesthetics of the location (e.g. Describe the potential camera shots or describe the acoustic value of the location)
Potential camera shots -
- Example Mid long shots of the whole process e.g. - multiple trays entering
commercial ovens
- Birds eye view of cakes and pastries being assembled
- Couple shots of ingredients being mixed
- Shots of icing/decorating cakes/pastries
- Long shot of customers entering in and outside of bakery
- Shot of someone turning sign at the door to let people know the bakery is open
- Shot of someone lining up the goods behind the counter
The aesthetics of the location is very diverse. During rush hour and peak times such as breakfast and lunch rush
hour the bakery gets very busy and the streets outside become very busy and loud due to traffic and rush hour.
Therefore, this can affect the quality of the recordings such as sound and how much the crew are able to film.
The crew need to be socially aware of the space they take up during recordings when it is very busy. Although it
may become difficult to film, there are also times where the bakery can get very quiet. This allows the crew to
take their time and gather all the necessary shots and observational footage as no factors will be disturbing the
recording. Interviews will most likely be filmed during off peak times or when the bakery is closed to avoid
further distractions and interruptions
