STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

“Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school"- Albert
Einstein.

Ever since I can recollect, I have been a keen observer of things around me and this quality
made me curious to learn and explore various concepts. My keen interest for seeking new ideas,
combined with my determination to reach a degree of excellence in every piece of work that I perform
and has driven me to acquire knowledge on various aspects, as well as leading me to apply for
master’s program in Data Analytics Engineering with a vision to contribute my part to the field of
Computer Science.

From the time I had been to school, I was determined to achieve distinction in academics
while also keeping my interests alive. I used to participate in various co-curricular activities which
apparently led me to learn different things out of the box. Mean while I was elected as the head-girl
and often used to coordinate and organize various cultural and technical events for interschool
competitions and various other events in school level. Further, I secured a gold medal and silver
medal in UCMAS (ABACUS) in third and seventh levels respectively. Eventually, I developed
interest for computers and this interest urged me to opt for information technology as my undergrad
major for which I expedited my best efforts securing 96.5% in intermediate.

Pursing my undergraduate studies, I tried to understand and implement most of my learning in

my project works which were part of my academics. And Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology
(CBIT), a pioneer in engineering education, facilitated me to develop a multi-tasking personality. But
during this part of my journey something unusual came up on my way and I was awestruck by the
diversities that I came across while learning the strange fact of my life - The DAY that changed
everything wherein I also made up my mind where I believed that "Commitment is that turning point
in your life and when you seize the moment to alter your destiny". It was when I attended a Codess
program conducted by Microsoft to promote girl coders from various streams in India. From then on,
I started knowing about various companies that stand in top position and kind of technologies they
use. And I experienced real-time work culture which enabled me to learn about various emerging
domains and also got an opportunity to talk with peers of the development team through which I
realized that all of them have started from a point where a person or group of people had a thought of
bringing a change to make things easy and better for people around. This program also made me
realize about potential contribution that I can make from my side to the society for a better world. I
pitched my idea related to "Face Recognition" on the same day and started working on it with some of
my friends. The idea stood in fifth position amongst the best ideas that were pitched during the event.
I extended this project to "Automated Attendance System using Face Recognition" as part of my
academics and achieved 70% percent accurate results.

Although I was consistent performer in academics, a sense of accomplishment pervaded me

only when I was able to practically grasp the concepts. While the coursework laid a strong foundation
in various specialties of information technology engineering, projects and internships on the other
hand helped me in knowing their practicality. Through my projects such as "What's app chat
analysis" and "Housing Price Predication", I studied the role of data mining on the current industry
and also got a clear view of various phases involved, such as identifying the source information,
picking the data points that to be analyzed, extracting relevant information and identifying key values
from extracted data and finally interpreting and reporting results. Besides, I was practically engaged
in an object-oriented concepts course certificated by QEEE (Quality enhancement in Engineering
Education by IIT Madras). Further, I am also currently interning at Samsung Research and
Development center, Bangalore. Where I am part of Software Analysis and Automation team and
performed various 'Performance' analysis such as GPU rendering, Overdraws and APK size reduction
on Samsung 'My Galaxy' app.

CBIT has created a wide platform to explore various streams of my interest. As social
service was my main objective, I started my journey as co-ordinator for Street cause, a student run
NGO. In this capacity, I got engrossed with various welfare activities conducted in rural areas. I also
worked as a volunteer, co–coordinator, and organizer for various literature and technical events at
college level. Presently, I am working as a campus ambassador for 'Uni-Coverage Technologies' an
IOT academy in Delhi which provided me a great exposure to different IOT based projects and how
they can be implemented in real world.

At this juncture of my career, I feel that I just managed to scratch the surface. I see master’s
program a logical extension to further augment of my knowledge. My earnest desire to pursue masters
in Data Analytics and Engineering at your institution stems from the fact that George Mason
University not only offers excellent coursework with distinguished faculty but also provides
outstanding research facilities. I believe this program will also enable me to keep up with fast paced
world of emerging technology and give me the ability to design and create software solution in
accordance with growing technology.
