A sharp –crested suppressed rectangular weir 1m long and a standard 90o V –Notch weir are
placed in the same weir box with the vertex of the V –notch weir 150mm below the crest of the
rectangular weir. Determine the head on the rectangular weir when their discharges are equal.
Use Francis Formula.

Given:
Length of rectangular weir (L) = 1m
Angle of V-notch (θ ) = 90o
Head in the V-notch (H2) = 150 mm ≈ 0.150 m
Let head in rectangular weir = H1

Discharge in both rectangular weir and V-notch is equal so that,
