Lesson Plan

Name of Lesson: A Theme board

Grade Level Appropriateness: 5th–6th Grade

Technology Content Standard Addressed: Nevada State Content Standard 1.B.5.1: Create an

original, digital work as a form of personal or group expression with minimal teacher support.

Other Content Standard Addressed: ISTE National Education Technology

Standards for STUDENTS (NETS) S Addressed: Standard #6 6a: Students choose the

appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or

communication.

Objective: The student will create a design on the platform that was given to them (Google

Drawing).

Materials need to facilitate the lesson: Google account, Google Drawing, computer, designated

book.

Suggested group size: 1 person

Procedures: Go to Google. Sign into your Google Account. If you do not have one, sign up. Go

to Google Drive. Once in drive, search for + NEW on the top left corner of the page. Click on it.

It will show options such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides. There is a MORE

option on the bottom of the + NEW. Click on the MORE button and it will show more choices.

Google Drawing is one of those choices. Click on Google Drawing. It will take you to a page

with a checkered sheet. On the top left corner of the page, the text says UNTITLED DRAWING.

Click on it and write your name and Theme board. Go to Insert and click on it. It will give you

many options for your design for the theme. You can upload an image with your Google Drive or

use the web. You can use shapes or lines as well. For lines and shapes, you click on your choice

and then click on the checkered page to show the desired choice. Once you drew your themes, go

to insert and click on the text box. Click on checkered sheet and a text box will appear. Write one

paragraph about the chosen theme(s) of the book. Drag your paragraph under the specific design

for the specific theme. For example, the one paragraph about love will go under the hearts you

drew. Write your first and last name and today’s date. Once the assignment is finished, go to the

top right corner and search for a blue box that has SHARE written on it. Click on it and it will

show you a box that has ENTER NAMES AND EMAIL ADDRESSES. Type my email address,

sabrinanajera0@gmail.com and click the send button.

Assessment: The student will be assessed on their creativity on the drawing of the intended

theme(s) they chose, the knowledge of the theme(s) they chose for the book, explanation of the

picture and theme(s) they chose, submitting the assignment on time, and writing their first and

last name with the date.
