4 I hope that all of you are safe and sound at home. I am

5 Teacher Rendel Grace Ferrer from Bonfal National High

0 But before we proceed, here are just some reminders: First,

1 Remember that prevention is better than cure.

2 Alright, our lesson for today is on Taking Reservations.

1 Have you ever gone to a restaurant and was asked if you have

3 reservations?

1 These are two types of restaurant reservations, the manual

4 reservation and online reservation. The Manual Reservation

1 System depend on the person designated, usually a host or

5 hostess, to answer the phone, record the details of the said

6 guarantee.

1 They may also answer guest questions, give accurate

7 directions to the restaurant, and provide clear information

1 about parking. Forms will be used for reservation customer

8 details. Systems and processes have to work so the

1 information collected can be stored and made available on

9 the dates it is required.

2 Product information such as room types, menu items, rate

0 sheet prices, car types, live entertainment, bus destinations,

2 will all be in the form of brochures, charts, and hand-outs for

1 the staff. Accounting processes to collect the method of

1 payment would be a cash register, petty cash box, manual

2 credit card machine or cashier to process the money.

3 On the other hand, the Online Reservation System makes use

4 of the internet through a website, where all the necessary

5 information needed for reservation is keyed-in by the guest.

6 Other information about the restaurant, such as directions to

7 the place, parking, active promotions and discounts are also

8 available online, instead of depending on the host or hostess

9 for details.

1 It also provides up to date "real time" information on

0 availability at the push of a button. When a reservation is

1 recorded the availability is automatically altered.

2 A computer system may have a "history" of any guest who

1 has used the establishment previously. It can store

3 information such as preferred room type, record of request,

1 date of last stay, even the amount spent previously.

4 People make reservations for convenience and security.

1 Many people like to plan out their holiday or business trip to

5 feel secure in the knowledge that they have a room waiting

1 for them, they have a prepared table for comfortable dining,

6 they have a flight booked to take them back to their home or

1 next destination, and know they have seen all the attractions

8 of the city during their stay. The role of reservations staff is

1 to ensure that they process all reservations in an efficient and

9 professional manner.

2 There are different types of bookings.

0 First is Accommodation suppliers where in guests will need

2 to have room bookings processed in order to stay at

1 establishments that provide accommodation such as hotels,

2 apartments, resorts, guest houses, caravan parks. Second is

2 for Aircraft wherein passengers need to have "Seats" booked

2 for all types of air travel they undertake. These bookings will

3 vary according to the airline chosen, class of travel such as

2 first class or economy, date of flying (e.g. high season or low

4 season or facilities that are included such as food or movies).

2 Third are for Cruise ships wherein passengers on cruise ships

5 TEACHER need to make bookings for the dates of their cruise. This sort

2 of reservation may include meals while on board. Fourth is

6 for Coaches or buses which are used to travel from one place

1 to another or to visit a tourist destination. Others are

2 Limousines or rental cars or vans, Day/extended tours,

3 Entertainment, Tourist attractions and other venues since

4 some Airlines will book accommodation for guests. If one

5 hotel is fully booked, they might make a reservation at

6 another hotel. Travel agent’s book theatre or concert tickets.
