LISTENING SPEAKING IV C

2020/2021

Description of Learning Process:

This course focuses on listening and speaking skills for intermediate/high intermediate level. Students learn how to
identify main ideas and supporting ideas, distinguish intonation, produce clear pronunciation in English, and
demonstrate active participation in long conversation by using target vocabulary, intonation, and pronunciation.

The number of hours/week : 2x50 minutes/week

Pre-requisite : Passed English III

Lecturers : Harwintha Y. Anjarningsih, Ph.D (C)

Time/Place : Monday 13:00-14:50 Class C

Teaching techniques : practice, discussion, project-based learning, collaborative learning.


Evaluation system : The passing grade is C, which is the total average score from the following components:
- Average of listening & speaking assignments : 30%
- Speaking project : 20%*group presentation
- Mid-term test : 20%
- Final test : 30%

Requirements:
 Minimum attendance is 80%. If students are absent for more than 20%, they cannot take final tests in all
English IV classes. Attendance is counted from on-time submissions of assignments in asynchronous
sessions and on-cam attendance in synchronous sessions.
 If students are late more than 15 minutes in synchronous sessions, they are considered absent.
 Make-up tests are only given for mid-term and final tests. Students must provide evidence from their
doctors/hospitals once they attend the class in order to take make-up tests.
 Assignments have to be submitted on time. Late submission leads to penalty (the score for the assignment
will be deducted by 25%). Assignments are submitted to google classroom (class code xqnmhdw)
 Assignments and test results that indicate plagiarism get 0 point.

Objectives:

By the end of this course, students are able to demonstrate understanding of main ideas and supporting ideas of a
long conversation and show active oral participation by using correct vocabulary, pronunciation, and intonation.
