from the theater by – passed the washer and the remainder mixes
with outside air before entering the washer. The condition in the

ωr = 0.0099 kg/kgda
hr = 50.37 KJ/kgda
vr = 0.8578 m3/kgda
Solution
QS = mScp (tr – tS)
175 = mS (1.0062) (25 – 15)
mS = 17.392 kg/s
QL = ms(ωr - ωs)(hfg)
68.5 = 17.392 (0.0099 - ωs) (2454)
ωs = 0.008295 kg/kgda
Solution

At tS = 15oC and
ωs = 0.008295 kg/kgda
hS = 36.07 KJ/kgda
Solution
From the mixing stream:
my + mc = mS
my DBTy + mc DBTc = mS DBTS
my DBTy + (mS -my)DBTc = mS DBTS
my DBTS− DBTc
=
mS DBTy− DBTc
15 −10
= = 0.3333
25 −10
my = 0.3333 mS
Solution
my = 0.3333 (17.392) = 5.7968 kg/s
mc = mS - my = 17.392 – 5.7968 = 11.5952 kg/s
Also: my hy + mchc = mS hS
(5.7968)(50.37) + (11.5952) (hc) = 17.392 (36.07)
hc = 28.921 KJ/kgda
Solution
From the mixing stream
mx + mo = mm
mx = 0.75 mS - my
mx = 0.75(17.392 )– 5.7968
= 7.2472 kg/s
mo = mm - mx
mo = 11.5952 – 7.2472
mo = 4.348 kg/s
Solution
Also:
mx hx + moho = mm hm
( 7.2472)(50.37) + (4.348)(75.51) = 11.5952 hm
hm = 59.797 KJ/kgda

a) Vy = my vy
= (5.7968)(0.8578)
= 4.972 m3/s
Solution
b) Capacity of the Air Washer = mm (hm – hc)
= 11.5952 (59.797 – 28.921)
= 358 kw
c) Ventilation Load = mo (ho – hr)
= 4.348 (75.51 – 50.37)

d) Refrigeration Load = AC Load + Ventilation Load
= (175 + 68.5) + 109.31
= 352.81 kw

ωr = 0.007263 kg/kgda
hr = 38.56 KJ/kgda
vr = 0.8399 m3/kgda

a) mo = mr = 0.50 mS 0.50(5.963) = 2.9815 kg/s
Vo = movo = (2.9815) (0.8729)

QS 30
b) SHR = = = 0.75
QS + QL 30+10
From Psychrometric Chart: RADPT = 5oC
Solution
Solution
c) Refrigeration Load = AC load + Ventilation Load
= (QS + QL) + mo(ho – hr)
= (30 + 10) + (2.9815) (56.77 – 38.56)
= 94.29 kw
d) Refrigeration Capacity = mm(hm – hs)
where: mmhm = moho + mrhr
5.963hm = 2.9815(56.77) + (2.9815)(38.56)
hm = 47.67 KJ/kg
Refrigeration Capacity = 5.963 (47.67 – 31.53) = 96.24 kw
