1. SCOPE

The aim of this method statement is to highlight procedures/sequence of activities that will be
implemented to perform concrete repair works on the scour chambers.

2. EQUIPMENT

 Clean bucket
 Wooden and steel floats
 Hammer (2 pound)
 Brush

3. MATERIALS

The following material will be utilized:

 Chryso (WB) Curing Agent


 Concrete

4. SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS

The operations or sequence of activities will be as follows:

Concrete Mix
 A concrete grout mix is manually mixed with the following proportions.

1:4:5

1 litre of clean water


4 kg of Powercrete Plus-Blk CEM II/A-M(V,L) 42.5R
5 kg of sieved sand (2.25mm passing & 1.18mm retained)

Application.

 The loose concrete and honeycombs defective areas will be identified


 The affected defected area will be hammered, brushed then cleaned to remove the loose
concrete and small particles.
 The loose particles will be removed until solid concrete is achieved.
 The leftover dust will be cleaned with water and compressed air.
 The surface will be inspected to ensure it is clean and free from any loose material.
 The cosmetic mixture is then mixed as follows: 5 kg of sieved sand is poured into a clean
bucket and 4 kg of cement is then added and mixed with the sand using a scoop, then a
protrusion is made in the dry mix to facilitate the addition of 1 litre of clean water. The
mixture is then stirred with a scoop until it reaches a smooth consistency.
 Using a wooden float, a layer of the mix is applied onto the surface of the affected area.
 The surface will then be levelled and smoothed off with a steel float to the required
shape.
 The Chryso (WB) Curing Agent is then applied on to the levelled area to prevent any loss
of moisture.

5. QUALITY CONTROL

 Concrete sampling.
6. HEALTH AND SAFETY

The Contractor will adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Construction
Regulations.

The Contractor has a full time Safety Officer on site responsible to ensure that all safety
requirements are adhered to. Personnel working on the site will make use of Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hats, dust masks, etc.
