1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to provide proper guidelines for supervision of all RCC Structural
Member OGL above levelling coarse purpose concrete bedding provide at site to establish a proper
system to control, Footing and Plinth wall base and to ensure that proper quality control is exercised
up to the satisfaction level of Client & Consultant.

2. SCOPE-

Providing and laying plum concrete wherever required/ specified with ready mix
concrete of grade M10/M15(1:3:6 Depending on GFC) using FLYASH & evenly
distributed plums of basalt or trap of size 160mm & above upto any reasonable size
1 to a maximum limit of 40% of volume of concrete including base preparation,
conveying (manually/mechanically) for all leads & depths, placing in position,
mechanical compaction, levelling, rough finishing of the top surface, curing etc.
complete all as per approved construction drawings, specifications and as directed by
EIC.

3. Responsibilities :-
STAFF RESPONSIBLE:
 Site engineer in charge for area will be responsible for the work implementation at site
as per Method statement (M.S.)
 Safety Engineer will assist Site engineer for the compliance of safe working methods. . He

will assess the hazards in the workplace and formulate remedial actions to eliminate,
contain or reduce them.
 QC Engineer is responsible for monitoring and surveillance of daily construction activities
to ensure that the execution of works are properly implemented in compliance with
latest revisions of the approved drawings and specification requirements
 Supervisor will monitor housekeeping workers so that they keep the work area free of
unwanted materials and unattended tools. He will ensure housekeeping principles are
being implemented
 Surveyor will be responsible for the benchmark and setting of points, including exact
elevations in accordance with the approved drawing reference documents .

4. CODES / SPECIFICATION-
Technical Specification, IS 456, IS 383.

5. Materials
M10/M15 Grade concrete, Plums of size minimum 160 mm size.

6. PLANT, MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT-

Metal Tray, spade, pick axe, shovel, trowel, metal float, Auto level, total station, line dori,
bucket, broom Needle vibrator etc.

Preparatory works
1. Clean the surface to receive concrete using appropriate tools. Care should be taken
to avoid lumps of soil on the surface.
2. The level should be dressed using adequate hand tools to achieve as flat a surface as
possible.
3. Levels of the prepared surface should be jointly recorded before commencing pour.
4. Erect formwork wherever required as per requirement.

7. Procedure-
7.1 Placing Concrete

7.1.1 Laying PCC without Plums

1. Mark level pads with concrete at regular interval on the prepared surface and
check using survey instruments to ensure the correct level.
2. Check the RMC received from batching plant at the concrete check point for
homogeneity and workability, if found satisfactory dispatch to the pour location.
3. Place the concrete at desired location using suitable means such as concrete
pump, wheel barrow, concrete chute, pans etc.
4. Use metal float to compact and level the concrete to desired level wrt to the
level pads marked.
5. Wait till the concrete stiffens and start curing the concrete by spraying water,
simultaneously start roughening the surface of the concrete using broom or
equivalent means.
6. Level of finished concrete surface has to be recorded before commencing next
activity.

7.2.2 Laying PCC with Plums

1. Mark level pads with concrete at regular interval on the prepared surface and
check using survey instruments to ensure the correct level.
2. Check the RMC received from batching plant at the concrete check point for
homogeneity and workability, if found satisfactory dispatch to the pour location.
3. Place the concrete at desired location using suitable means such as concrete
pump, wheel barrow, concrete chute, pans etc. to form a layer of uniform
thickness.
4. Lay a layer of plums on top of the concrete layer and press it in to the concrete
laid. Care should be taken that the layer of plums place should not exceed by
40% of the volume of concrete place.
5. Build subsequent layers of concrete plums on top of each other till desired level
is achieved.

6. Use metal float to compact and level the concrete to desired level wrt to the
level pads marked.
7. Wait till the concrete stiffens and start curing the concrete by spraying water,
simultaneously start roughening the surface of the concrete using broom or
equivalent means.
8. Shear key provided with plum concrete . spacing approximant 1 meter distance.
9. Level of finished concrete surface has to be recorded before commencing next
activity.
10. Expansion joint will Be Maintain as per drawing (40 M Provide).

7.3.3 Curing

1. Make bunds using lean mortar on the surface of the concrete laid and fill the bunds
with water till 7days or Lay hessian cloth on top of the concrete surface and keep it
moist till 7 days.

8. INSPECTION & DOCUMENTATION-

Inspection-All stage wise inspections shall be carried out as per approved FQP.

Documentation-Reports and other documentations shall be generated and maintained

as per approved FQP and in the approved formats only.

8.0 EHS

a Provision of platform to route concrete pipe line on height.

b Follow work permit system Vehicular movement will be strictly restricted to

approved logistic plan.

c Safety sign / Warning sign boards will be provided around the work area.

d PPE will be ensured for all site personnel.

E Scaffolding for working platform will be provided with hand rails at mid

height to prevent fall.

d Working platform area will be kept clear of loose pies, loose clamps or

unwanted material or tools.
