Dear UIUC Office of Admissions,

I am writing to express my interest in furthering my education at your school in the Gies School of
Business. This school has a history of providing students the necessary resources and education
they need to achieve success and outstanding service. The opportunity to join such a fantastic
school is very exciting. The responsibilities of a student at UIUC fit my qualifications perfectly. I
am organized, a natural leader, and technically skilled.

Through several roles of leadership, including Class President, VP of Finance for Neuqua Valley’s
DECA Chapter, and a Captain of the Speech team, I am well versed in what it takes to take on a
leadership roles that are available on campus through extracurriculars as well as in the academic
environment. I am frequently in charge of coordinating groups of people to plan for, organize, and
execute tasks, events, and projects. My experience in leadership will allow me to successfully
participate in student activities on campus.

I am also well versed technically as well. I have taken Accounting I and Honors Accounting II.
Through the knowledge I gained in these classes, I was able to successfully compete in the
Accounting Applications event for DECA. Applying my knowledge allowed me to consistently
place in the top 3 places in sectional and state competitions. This will lay the foundation and
provide background knowledge for me to easier expand my knowledge in desired fields. Instead
of having no prior experience, I will be better prepared for day one in the classroom.

The combination of my technical skill and leadership experience makes me an ideal candidate for
admission at UIUC. I am excited about the opportunity to study at UIUC at the Gies School of
Business. I look forward to the opportunity to further discuss how I could not only benefit from the
school but also contribute to a rich student life in and out of the classroom.

Sincerely,

Rohan Ramesh
