I. PROJECT
In Science, you will learn about collecting evidence and presenting results in charts and tables.
Your task in this project is to collect information through interviews, present the results and
provide a solution to the problem by designing a soundproof room. While in Chinese, you will learn
vocabulary words to describe sound and to express your own ideas.
II. OBJECTIVES
Science
● investigate the sources of loud sounds
● collect information on “Which source of sound disturbed people the most?”
● present results using bar charts
● identify simple trends and patterns in results and draw conclusions
● present an idea of a design of a soundproof room with at least 2 (two) materials to muffle
sounds
Chinese
● Use appropriate vocabulary related to sounds
● Describe and express logical ideas clearly
Science
● Google Sheet to record the data of the interview
● Website: https://www.mathsisfun.com/data/bar-graph.html (for making bar graph online)
● Google sheets to collect information in the survey
● Google slides to add photos of interview, to present results, to add drawing bar chart photo
and to add a design of a soundproof room
● A phone or camera to record video
Chinese
● An A4 paper to draw the template
● Chinese vocabulary you may need: noise source (噪音源) 、traffic noise (交通噪音)、
construcion noise (建筑噪音)、disturbing(扰民)、Hight pitch (高频)、Low pitch (低频)
reduce(减少)、impact (影响)、pollution(污染)、a deafening noise (震耳欲聋)、hazard(危害)、
soundproof (隔音)、greenbelt(绿化带),
● Colour pens
● some decorations (optional)
IV. GUIDELINES/PROCEDURES:
Science
1. Interview your family members and make an online survey of at least 25 people. Record the
data in Google Sheet.
1
2. Take 4 photos of the interview you conducted at home.
3. Make the bar graph (on the website) and add the photo in the Google Slide. Website link:
https://www.mathsisfun.com/data/bar-graph.html
5. Draw on an A4 paper a design of a soundproof room that includes three ways sound can be
muffled.
6. Make a video presentation explaining the soundproof room. (4 minutes video for both English
and Chinese)
Chinese
1. Draw a template on an A4 paper .
2. Write the name of people that were interviewed on the first column .
5. Find out what kind of impact the noise has on the surroundings on the fourth column .
6. Do some research and find out what will help to reduce the noise (no less than 50 words
each ) on the last column .
8. Make a video presentation , simply introduce what is your idea of reducing noise for each
place . (4 minutes video: 2 minutes for Science and 2 minutes for Chinese)
V. SAMPLE OUTPUT: Study these samples to get some ideas. The samples that follow are only
meant to help you understand what to do. All students are expected to uphold academic
honesty when doing their work. Please DO NOT COPY the samples.

The completed project must be submitted not later than June 4, 2021 (Friday) on Week 11.The
project needs to be collected as an attachment in the dedicated Google classwork topic: Term 4
Semester 2 Integrated Project.
This project will count for 30% of the Term 4 grade. Rubrics are provided on how to mark your
project. Contact your Science/Chinese teacher any time before the final due date and ask any
questions or express concerns regarding the project.
