Lesson Plan: Week 1

Greetings and Introductions

● Part I: Lesson - Tim teaches Spanish, Liza teaches French. One at a

time to the whole group.

○ Greetings in French and Spanish (ex. Bonjour, Hola, etc.).

○ How to say your name.

○ How to say where you are from.

○ And you?

Approx. 10-15 min.

● Part II: Game - Pass ball, students greet the class and introduce

themselves.

○ Students may choose whether to use French or Spanish for this

activity.

Approx. 15-20 min.

Allow 10-15 minutes for lost time .

MATERIALS: SPA & FRN: The Alphabet


SPA: Spanish Phrases;

FRN: 12 phrases in French for Beginners


Lesson Plan: Week 2

Alphabet

● Part I: Lesson

○ Alphabet written on board, go through letter by letter.

● Part II: Game

○ Point to a letter, have students repeat back verbally which letter it

is.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 3

Numbers 0-10

● Part I: Lesson - Tim teaches Spanish, Liza teaches French. One at a

time to the whole group.

○ Present numbers 0-10.

○ Give students white boards to take notes. Students copy down

numbers as they are presented.

Approx. 10-15 min.

● Part II: Game - Go fish.

○ Break into 2 groups: 1 French, 1 Spanish.

○ Switch groups after 10 min.

○ Students must call out numbers in the appropriate language.

Approx. 20 min.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 4

Numbers 11-20

● Part I: Lesson

○ Give students white boards, have them copy down numbers as

they are presented

● Part II: Game - Go fish

○ Break into 2 groups: 1 French, 1 Spanish.

○ Switch groups after 10 min.

○ Students must call out numbers in the appropriate language.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 5

Numbers 20-100

● Part I: Lesson

○ Give students white boards, have them copy down numbers as

they are presented

● Part II: Game

○ Pass ball, have students say how old their parents or grandparents

are

Approx. 15-20 min

Lesson Plan: Week 6

How to Tell Time

● Part I: Lesson

○ Introduce how to say times and what time it currently is.

Approx. 10-15 min

● Part II: Game

○ Draw clocks on whiteboard displaying different times

○ Students say what time the clock is showing.

Approx. 15-20 min

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.

Days of The Week

● Part I: Lesson

○ Hand out a list of days, go over them verbally.

● Part II: Activity

○ Pass ball, students say their favorite day of the week in either

French or Spanish

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 8

Months and Seasons

● Part I: Lesson

○ Hand out lists, go over information verbally

● Part II: Activity

○ Name a month and have students respond with what season that

month is in.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 9

Colors

● Part I: Lesson

○ Introduce primary and secondary colors

○ Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Purple, Green

● Part II: Activity

○ We name a color, students must find something in the room that

is that color

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 10

Parts of the Body

● Part I: Lesson

○ Project or draw human figure on the board. Point to body part as

we go over it.

● Part II: Activity

○ Say a part of the body in French/Spanish, have students come up

to the board and point to the correct body part.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 11

Clothing

● Part I: Lesson

○ Regular clothing: shirt, pants, shoes, hat

○ Winter clothing: Jacket, Gloves, Hat, Boots,

● Part II: Activity

○ Pass ball, have students say what they are wearing today in either

language.

■ 1 article of clothing.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 12

Sports - General

● Part I: Lesson

○ Go over sports in both languages

■ Football, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, Basketball

○ Introduce how to say “I play”, “I watch”

● Part II: Game

○ Pass ball, students say their favorite sport to either play or watch.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 13

Sports - Specifics

● Part I: Lesson

○ Specific sports objects. Ex: Goal, Net, Ball

○ Use their learning to answer which objects go with which sports

● Part II: Activity

○ Show pictures of sports-related items and have students say what

they are

● *Remember to tell students to bring in photos of family members for

next class*

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.


Lesson Plan: Week 14

Family Members

● Part I: Lesson

○ Teach students how to say family members

■ Mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, etc

● Part II: Activity

○ Have students come up to the front of class and show photos of

family members.

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.

Spanish Party

● Food:

● Movie: Coco

● Activities: Coloring, word search, hangman

Allow 10-15 min for lost time.

French Party

● Food

● Movie, Beauty and the Beast

● Quiet activities, coloring, crossword puzzle/word search, hangman.
